I grow in soil. I feed 5 ML of calmag/weekly. Only when I am using plain water between feedings. I water plain PH water w/calmag when pot is dry after a full feeding.

I use additional cal mag every time I water.

I increase my EC of Calmag by 0.2EC before adding my nutrients. (In coco) however my source water is only 0.2.

if your source water is 0.4EC then the chances are you won’t need much in the way of additional Ca and Mg and you should look out for signs they need it rather than supply it.

if you are using RO water with almost zero EC Then increase Ca and Mg up to 0.4EC before mixing your base nutes in to it.

I’m a coco grower.

This right here.

Use your tap waters EC to roughly judge if you need to add lots of calmag.

Add calmag to 0.4ec then do your normal stuff. If your tap water EC is above 0.4 it is doubtful you will need any extra. Maybe if your in coco.

Starting water, nutrient's of choice and frequency of fertigation matter. I haven't used a drop of calmag in this grow and my tap comes out under 50PPM (my meter won't read below 50). Ironically, when I was using nutes "formulated for coco" I had to add 2ml/gal calmag (even more if I was feeding below 80% suggested rates). Go figure.
Between the number of people on this forum that say "needs moar calmag" and another site I'm on where a moderator (yes, I'm f'n serious) tells people they don't ever need calmag in coco, it's no wonder so many have issues.

I have always needed to add at least a half dose calimagic to my coco pots or I immediately get rust spots even on seedlings, but I use tap water and cheap coco.

When I grew in soil I didn't need it, even cheap soil made it unnecessary, never saw a single spot.
