Camper A/C

Might be a dumb question but can’t seem to find anything on the web related to this. Has anyone every used a camper a/c in grow room? I have a room built in my garage and my portable a/c doesn’t shut off ever. Not that it’s not cooling down it just runs and auto switches from a/c to fan when reached desired temp. I don’t like it running constantly and it doesn’t have memory so I can’t put it on a controller. If power cycles it won’t restart unless manually turned back on. So I was thinking, I have a camper that the roof got a hole in so needs gutted and was thinking about pulling the a/c unit out and mounting it on the ceiling of my grow room. It’s a vented model with thermostat control. So can either mount in grow area or attached room and vent into grow room with added passive venting. I also run co2 tanks so that’s kinda another issue I’m curious about. If placed in attached room should I vent a/c to bottom line of room and exhaust vent in the ceiling to prevent as much co2 escaping as possible. I should probably add also that my portable a/c is in attached room vented into grow area to reduce co2 loss right now. Should also add a mini split or purchasing another unit isn’t an option atm.

Your RV ac should work if it’s sized properly and you should not be venting the room while running CO2 if I’m getting that right. Also there is nothing wrong with the portable fan running as that will help keep the CO2 from pooling on the ground, air movement is not a bad thing IMO. But a ductless would be the best option when you can do it.

Thanks. And Yeah I have good air movement inside. I have 4 fans already in there running constantly. 2 which are wall mounts and 2 which are on the floor pointing up as to draw the co2 off the floor and push it back up. As far as venting I kinda have to a little just because I have the a/c running into the room through the wall as to not suck the c02 up into the a/c and can’t push air in without air being pushed out. My 20# tank last around 2 1/2- 3 weeks @ 1300 ppm with a 200 ppm cushion. Once I get a mini split I won’t have an escape and the room will be sealed but as for now kinda stuck in with situation I have.

“You can use the best nutrients that money can buy, but you will just be flushing money down the drain if the pH levels are not in the ideal 5.8 to 6.5 range. The same applies to CO2-enrichment systems—if you are not ventilating the room, expelling stale air, bringing in fresh air and keeping the temperature and CO2 at a plant friendly level, you might actually be doing your plants more harm than good.”

Yes I’m fully aware of that lol. This isn’t my first grow. I have a venting cycle with lights off. Although many will agree that venting a sealed room is an on going debate. Some will agree and others will disagree. Most people vent when not using co2 to re enrich the depleated co2 from their rooms the plants eat up. But I appreciate your input.

Many of us write even for those who look through old threads and even revive them. Have a good week!
