  • Hi again folks, Ok so more probs for me to sort

First of all i had my setup running for an hour with my 400w light(minus plant) and noticed i couldnt get the temp below 100!!

Went and bought a 250w light yesterday and had the temp running at 85, so put my plant under with the light 18" above my plant.

After 10 mins i noticed slight wilt/curling so raised the light to 26" and left for a further 20 mins. I then came back to this so removed and put back in window while i seek help.

Can anyone give me some advise please? I also plan to go and buy a desktop fan today if that may help.

Temp is a little high i know, but why are my leaves burning when the 250w light is over 2ft away? Obv im a noob so please be gentle with any criticism lol

She has been grown to this point natural with a water every 2-3 days when needed.

    Thanks in advance

im using a 250w at the minute and its 6" from the tops of my plant with no signs of burns. slight heat stress but thats easily fixed with a fan pushing air back at the light. what are your ambient temps in the room???

you may want to invest in a cool tube. also is that foil on the walls or mylar?

I had the same type of problem when I switched from about 150w of cfl to a 400w hps. I think taking your plants from a window seal to a HID lighting system is like taking a human living in a cave and putting him in a tanning bed for 18 hrs a day. Try slowly adjusting the plants to your new lighting. I would also suggest cutting an exhaust hole at the top and use one of the fans to remove the warm air out. If it is foil I would take it down and buy some white paint.

This is easy...you need more ventilation...computer fans won't deal with the heat coming off an HiD light...so the lights are burning up your plants. So...you need a fan large enough to move the leaves on the plants, and you need larger scale ventilation.

I mean for real did you truly in your heart of hearts think that those teeny tiny fans would do any good?

the air is coming from below. Hot air rises so if all the cool air is below the plant is getting burnt up there. Put the fans more up on top

not true.... im using 2 120mm pc fans and keeping my temps below 27c and 250w HPS in a 50x100x120cm cupboard with just passive intake

if its the plants first time in that cabinet it could just be shock...if it were used to low temp fluros and high humidity....being placed into a cab that was a little hotter anda little drier could do that. maybe try to increase the humidity about.

Many thanks peeps, removed all foil and painted white and prob seems to now be sorted. Suprisingly the 2 pc fans are pulling in plenty of cool air as my wardrobe is situated right next to the (unused) open fireplace i have in the bedroom.

psillysimon.... Lovely pic :)
