Right when the stretch is done then strip, you're too far in for it to really have the results from an early defoliation but it might help/hurt, try it and add to the database of experiments.

I don't ever defoliate totally. I'll cut some of my leaves if they yellow. & I'll cut some of the bigger fans if they keep light from hitting lower buds.

During the first 3 weeks, I defoliate every other day or so, taking off fan leaves that are blocking light. My only goal in the first couple of weeks is to get as much light to as many budsites as I can. I stop at a small handful per day, if i notice I can take more I still wait as to not stress the girls out too much. After those 3 weeks are up, I don't take off anything unless Its absolutely necessary. Once week 6 and 7 start up, I start taking off anything thats starting to die off, yellowing or crisping, etc. As you cut your nutes off, the plant will start to take what it needs from its fan leaves, killing them off slowly to the end. Hope that helps.

defoliation only works if an equal amount-by volume- of root ball is removed at the same time starting with the thickest of them.

Cut off leaves, stop feeding, and add a flashlight for some extra weight. Do that and you'll have a harvest to enjoy for at least an hour if you're not a heavy smoker.

If you want any kind of serious discussion, lookup Grand Master Level on youtube, he goes live often and has demonstrated proven results with defoliation techniques in his videos.

For me I use defoliation to open up the canopy. When plants are tightly packed, they can overlap causing standing water and blocking out much of the light reaching anything below the absolute highest tops. So to remove some of these leaves is to prevent a stagnant canopy and it also helps to allow light onto bud sites which otherwise might not have received it.

I've caused intersex when being too aggressive DURING the stretch, so my advice is to do like GML and wait til they're done stretching, 14 days or more before tearing leaves off, but as someone above stated you might try thinning them out gradually during the stretch..in fact I will implement some of this on the next girls to flower.

Take all the leaves off. They don't serve any purpose. Clearly Mother Nature has no idea what she is doing.
We know much better what these here plants need.

I remove leaves I deem unnecessary... but I do not defoliate...
Productive thinning and defoliation are two different things.. Defoliation is the removal of all leaves from a plant usually accomplished by chemical means... Like they tried in Vietnam... Thin yes.. defoliate no..
