Can I get in trouble for this?

I met a guy over the internet who lives where I do. We just TALKED about me maybe buying an eighth from him. I know you get in trouble once the sale (exchanging of money for weed) occurs but can you get in trouble for just talking about buying it? If he is a cop by chance. Doubtful but jsut wanna make sure.
