how long should i hang before curing???
temps at night are about 45-50 and daytime temps are about 70-75...

should i hang in a cardboard box, rubbermaid container, or straight up outside?

Temps below 65 slow drying times, if you are going to do that be sure to watch closely for mold. Another thing, what's the humidity like in your area?

If you want to hang it inside something, I would stick to cardboard.

not really humid at all low humidity

I suppose you could then but another thing I would worry about is insects. Is there any particular reason you want to dry outdoors? Do you have to keep your harvest hidden? Indoors would really be the preferred place because it's a generally a controlled environment. It's best to dry in a dark area where temps are between 60-70.

As far as the time before curing. There is no timeframe, everyone's crop is different because there are so many factors at play. Buds are generally ready to cure once they have lost about 50% of their intial mass and only contain about 33% of their original water content. Here is my thread on drying and curing, it may help you out some. They should be fully smokable before they are ready to cure.
