Can someone help me get into dabbing?

I've been smoking bud for about 2 years now but all of a sudden a few of my friends all switch to dabbing, and they don't really smoke straight bud anymore. So I'm wondering what the hype is about, how it differs from straight bud, what it is exactly, and how to get into it if it's that good. I've used a dab rig just a few times, and Im going to try to smoke some on top of the bud with my bong in a few minutes once I finish what I'm already smoking.
 
It's stronger than any bud and it's just hash oil butane hash oil most likely but they are coming out with a bunch of different concentrates.

Flowers are for peasants too. :)

How's the variety for the concentrates? As far as flavors and the type? Because I've heard of shatter (just heard the names I've got absolutely no clue what the fuck it is) and what ever I just put on top of my bud for my bong is like a honey that's had a lot of kief mixed in. My biggest conern is how complicated it is, my buddies always do the setting up of the dab rig and I just take the hits. They keep saying the word nail and there's a blowtorch and they cover up the nail thing with something and it gets very confusing. I don't have a good experience with dabbing on account of catching myself on fire the first time I tried to use a dab rig so I'm concerned about that whole aspect but i love the high from it

OMG I met up with @Metasynth at last years Cannabis Cup. He shared a dab of his.... I had a whitey and the hubby had to remove a half eaten burger from my mouth because I forgot to chew, or move or blink etc.....

It was EPIC! But I'm older and wiser now :bigjoint:
