Can someone test the 72 hours darkness before harvest myth...

I have read plenty of threads where people claim that there buds had better taste, odor, color, smoothness, and thc levels after the plant sat in darkness 72 hours before harvesting... Supposedly inducing 72 hours of darkness mimics winter and makes plants put a final ummff into there buds.. But, I haven't seen anyone actually test this myth and have two exact plants.. One in light.. Other in 72 hours of darkness before harvesting.. Then compare the two plants buds.. Is this bullshit? can someone please test this? Feel free to leave any comments or opinions (good or bad i don't care). Ohh and one more thing im gonna say again. CAN SOMEONE PLEASE TEST THIS... Thanks guys :)

i will run the test but to do it proper im going to need lots of funding im going to set up a paypay account that you can put donations in for this great scientific endeavor

i dont think that much time is needed because it will shock her not help. but i do see your thinking progress here, ive herd of your type of testing but no one usually uses that much darkness. my guess would be that a 16-20 hr dark before harvest would be the area wer us growers may see some difference worth wile as opposed to your 72hrs.

oh and my first grow day/night (24hrs light) which ever day/night before harvest i did 15hrs of dark and majority was good for smoking within 2 weeks, with carful dry and cure of course

8 hours is the longest i've gone and i think it made more crystals - taste and whatnot...shrugs
i've found that putting a fan on high right on top of the plant the last few days gives a similar result and lets you leave it in the light which DEFINITELY produces tighter nuggets

that's been my complaint with the long dark - that and space - when i do the dark gig(wet or dry medium) my buds seem MUCH looser

the fan works better IMHO and you can also do things like let the medium dry ALL the way out for a good full day before harvest
um yeah - that's about it

look im talking formin a top notch research and development firm 100% dedicated solving this once in for all im talking state of the art facilities labs sharks with freaking lazer beams the works and just a few eazy payments form you good people at riu could solve this problem for the greater good of humanity think about it one day you could tell your grandkids you helped fund the project

im going to do it when i finish my test grow 2 plants all dark 2 plants stay under light see what happens lol not much of a test but its something

I'm gonna harvest my emerald jack next week. So tonight after her 12 hour cycle I'll put her in the dark for 72 hrs. I'll keep you posted on any differnces I notice

Awesome.. Im glad to hear some people are gonna try it.. I would myself, but my plants are only 2 weeks into veg. 72 hours shouldn't hurt the buds so its worth trying. :)

After doing a little more research on this subject, I have found very little scientific help on this matter. But what I have found is basicly what we've been ping ponging around already. Darkness helps produce sugars. I did find that 72 hours of dark may be 24 hours to long and that white strains react best to this dark period. I read one article that was study on 3 plants. Each were left in the dark prior to harvest for 24, 48, and 72 hrs. Acording to this one person, he noe his friends noticed any difference. I'm still gonna go with a dark period before I harvest. Only I think I'm just going with 48hrs. From what I've read, those who have tried this say that's what they stick with. I'll give my plant light tommorrow and then to the dark she goes. I'll keep everyone posted on how it goes.

It works I started doin it last harvest with jack herer and it made a differance.

I'm chopping plushberry today and I had her in the dark for the past 3 days so ill see id it made a differance to them.

And when I say it works I mean it produces more trichs, or makes them bigger. not so much smell or taste differance but increased frostiness.

you can get 70 an eight if u sell it in 20 bags just depends wot area ur in especialy if its decent blues its 150 an ounce in jail for sput or hash or wot ever the fuk your calling it and that shits like suckin on an exhaust pipe just depends where u are
