CANT TRUST THESE FUCKS OR ANY OF THE WANNA BES lol

A Canadian cannabis company has been found non-compliant by Health Canada for growing pot in greenhouse rooms that didn't have a licence to operate at the time.

Vaughan, Ont.-based CannTrust grows much of its product at a large greenhouse operation in Pelham, Ont., near Niagara Falls. The facility has 12 rooms, all of which are currently licensed to produce cannabis. Between October 2018 and March 2019, however, Health Canada says the company was growing marijuana in five rooms that had yet to obtain an official licence to do so.

"These rooms were constructed in accordance with regulations and good production practices, and licences were issued for each of the five rooms in April 2019," the company said.

Some CannTrust employees also provided inaccurate information to the regulator, the federal department said.

As a result, Health Canada has put a hold on roughly 5,200 kg of dried cannabis that was cultivated in those five rooms during the period in question until it deems the company has complied with regulations.

Conducting quality checks
In addition, CannTrust says it is voluntarily putting a hold on about 7,500 kg of dried pot that it says was previously manufactured in those rooms.

Health Canada is in the process of conducting quality checks on the company's products, which is expected to take up to two weeks to complete. As a result, CannTrust says its customers should expect some delays.

"All product sold from the impacted rooms has passed quality control testing at Health Canada certified labs as well as CannTrust's own quality control processes and safety reviews," CannTrust said.

"We have made many changes to make this right with Health Canada," CannTrust chief executive Peter Aceto said in a release. "We made errors in judgment, but the lessons we have learned here will serve us well moving forward."

Wow, and I was worried about having about 30 plants while my renewal was still being processed...

So, if I set up a huge operation, and get caught, I just tell them I was planning on getting licensed, but made an error in judgement, but the lesson learned will serve me well?

The poor little guy can't get a foothold in the door, and these Big Canna companies are getting away with anything and everything... The pot shop in Oshawa finally got through the hurdles and is now licensed, they were one of the original lottery winners. It was supposed to be called Fabulous Leaf, but now will be Tokyo Smoke, another LP owned store (Canopy Growth?) So the little guy gets so tied up in red tape, he has to go to the Big Canna for help, and you KNOW he'll get screwed in the long run...

I wonder how many of the original ontario stores are actually truly 100% owned and controlled by individuals, with NO influence by an LP. Anyone know?

Here in Ontario, the entity applying in the lottery, if they win, must be the owner of the retail outlet, and ownership may not change hands in any manner until retail is completely opened up. This means they could not sell shares, or provide stock options, or promises to another entity, or even allow another entity to manage or run the store. Again, perhaps I'm not completely accurate, but that's the jist of it as I understand it.

I don't understand what sort of deals were made to open LP "influenced" stores. Certainly there were people who entered the lottery just because they had a spare $25, and probably never had any intention of opening a store. Heck, I suppose it would be historic to just enter the draw right? So some schmucks find out they won, now what? Scramble to come up with a whole shitload of money now... Well, the LP's certainly have tons of cash to spend... but what's in it for them? Sure, it get's their name out there in the retail arena BEFORE anyone else.... but once they can simply apply for a retail license, and open their own stores, what's in it for the original owner? The LP pulls everything out and lets him go bankrupt? Retail is cut-throat afterall...

It'll be historic, that's for damn sure....

CannTrust plunges as company faces shortages after Health Canada finds greenhouses non-compliant

Non Compliant, as in, you need more ventilation, or, the fence needs to be higher.... Growing that many plants without a license is NOT non-compliance, it's life in prison time.... I'm not sure what the penaly is under the new cannabis act for growing that many plants without a license, but wow... somebody's calling in markers here....
