I was wondering if anyone has tried using dry ice to increase CO2 levels in their grow room, and what the outcome was?

Dry ice works because it is co2 but its probably the worst way to do so because theirs no good way to dispense regulate or control. In the end run after buying all the ice for one harvest you could of bought a co2 tank and regulator hope this helps
 
you can get dry ice from baskin robbins for real cheap. if you order steaks from omaha steaks (mmhmm good :) they include dry ice too, so you can get high and then enjoy your steaks lol
 
Does the addition of CO2 increase the yield a lot? My grow room is in a downstairs closet. The closet is in a room that is about 8 by 8ft. I leave the closet door open a crack (4 in) to help regulate the heat in the grow closet. In the closet there are 4 plants that are close to flowering stage. If I started to add CO2 a lot of it would dispense into the room. Because this room is already downstairs, I think that the CO2 levels must be somewhat higher anyways. Does anyone have any advice on whether trying to add CO2 would be worth it or not. I got the idea from dry ice, because someone left a bunch at my house and I thought that would be an easy way to make sure CO2 is suffecient in my grow room, but I am unsure of the levels of CO2 that my 4 plants would need.

Co2 Improves everything in flowering if you put 4 people. In a small room we'd run. Out of air to breathe. Same thing plantations in a small place need to co2 to continue vigorous growth theirs a huge Diffrence promise
 
Co2 is definantly a must. bigger better growth. If your only doing four plants I would guess your growing in a pretty small area. It shouldn't take too much Co2 to keep your room around 1500 ppm (optimal level). What are your dimensions and how air tight is the room?
 
The closet is a closet that is under a set of stairs. I would say about 3 feet by 5 feet, probably a good 9 feet high at the tallest part. There is no exhaust fan, just a fan circulating air in the closet. The room that the closet is attached to right now is acting as a heat sink and air sink, with the closet door open 4 inchs or so. I'm kind of stuck with not having proper ventilation, as this is a rental and there is no easy way to hook up a fan that connects outside the closet. The plants seem to be growing real well right now. I'm about a week away from when I want to start flowering. I honestly wasn't going to bother with CO2, but the dry ice got me thinking that if adding some CO2 would make a large difference in yeild that I should try to do something. There is a cheap place to get dry ice where I live, so I figured that would be a low tech good way to increase the CO2. Is this a good idea or am I fucked until I get proper ventilation?
 
Actually Co2 will help out a lot if you have limited ventilation. co2 replenishment is the idea behind proper ventilation for the most part. I here dry ice isn't the best, if you have a welding or hydro store near you a twenty pund tank would last you a while. keep heat in mind though and how to get it out if it starts getting hot. Try your best to make at least some fresh air available though. Co2 will also help with the veg stages, but is more useful during flower.
 
Has anyone tried to use these bacteria CO2 producing kits? I found some on ebay and they claim to produce CO2 by bacteria metabolising sugar and reduce the smell of growing plants. This sounds good, but I was wondering if they work as good as they are advertised?

They work real well for the people selling them. LOL

Get you ventilation squared away first. You will need this in flower when leaving the door open is not an option. Adequate ventilation=adequate CO2.

i run my room a 800ppm and use a water coolled c02 burner produces litttle heat, but i run a room controler that vents and cools and will turn off c02 when venting, their is many products out that work ok like green pads ive seen 600ppm form them.
 
I ended up getting a CO2 kit off of ebay. It was cheap and easy to use. Not sure how much it is going to help, but at least it is something. It also does soak up the odour, but it smells like a funky yeast growing. A little like a brewery type smell.
 
Will double or triple your bud!!!! At 1500ppm... All the best colas are enriched with co2... It is the key to greatness....
