Central America and a GREEN THUMB!

:leaf: HELLO WORLD :leaf:

Coming to you live from the butt-hole of central america ( lets say the sixth country south of Texas). Beautiful culture, amazing geographical sights... my concerns now are to be able to grow me some ganja. Now... I have no access to FoxFram products (the ones I ONLY use) nor anything else. Though I will continue my search for horticulture nutes and such, I will be starting... bagseed... and homemade nutes. UGH. :wall:

Before starting a grow journal I had some question I was hoping some could answer for me. I understand that I can grow all year long but (obviously) need to time it right... question here is when should I start seedling or propagation. Hopefully I have enough time before 12/12 hits here. IN short, what are the dates I should be looking to start seedling to hit enough growth to flower... (trust me, I wouldn't be asking if i HAVEN'T SPENT MORE THAN 5 HOURS RESEARCHING)

Second question being is that even though land is MOST fertile here, I live around a lot of coffee farms (usually in lower climates of 60f-70f.) Naturally, where I life is pretty high altitude, I believe something between 800-900. would this suffice for my baby's?

My background is of an indoor farmer so ANY info would be fantastic.

Altitude is 800-900 feet or meters? Obviously sativa strains work well. Take a soil sample to a real lab for accurate analysis if possible. That country's universidad will be able to do that. $25 and a cold drink for the university student doing it. You want to grow coffee. As a hobby of course. Yo sabe la gente y habla poquito Espanol. A little money makes a lot happen in those areas. Bueno suerte!

will help you find when days get shorter

also im sub'd....
AWESOME LINK! A way to Gage light cycles is crucial for me now since I cant put a timer on the sun lol... We are in the wet season, so yah... plenty of rain past couple days...according to the site, if I start seedlings now, I might have to thing about vegging indoors till January, but since electricity is monopolized and is not cheap like in that states, might have to work a way that I can use some sunlight and move them indoors for the extra couple hours. Suggestions?

LOL funny enough, i'm surrounded by a highly agricultural part of this country, coffee farms being the most prevalent. Just for that I think I will go around ask. there is no language barrier since Spanish was my first language. (was because Im more fluent in English now lol) I'll post my finding as soon as I get them, probably by tomorow.

GRACIAS AMIGO! lol... And I stand corrected, the exact altitude where my grow-op will be is 552.40 mts/snm. The cool thing is that im here for school and I happen to be in my second ear of for My BS in Microbiology, minor in organic chem and botany (botany being my passion :-P )- I start school in less then two weeks and im really cool with the science counselor/professor at my school, which I KNOW the man tokes as well... but no need to tell him my plans lol. I have full access to the lab and for extracurricular activities, he would be more than obliged. Ill work on getting different soil samples from areas I see a lot of flora and get them analyzed just to see whats up.

Mean while... I got me some bag seed FROM SHITTY ASS weed If attained here and start the germ process now. Think Ill start a journal in the morning. Its like 12pm right now. Im trying to contact a friend of mine in caly that might still be there for vaca... or not to get me some of those good phenos.

have you checked to see if you can get seeds from online seedbanks?
In this part of the world, immigration is such a monopolized greedy scheme... they do physical checks on ALL packages and include tax at their own discretion, electronics here get up to a 70% mark up from msrp because , I believe, they think its for resale purposes; very greedy country.... bunch of thieves if you as me. I've ordered seeds before in the states, usually with a t-shirt or w.e, but in a physical check I'm almost sure they would find it. The trick would be to send seeds in envelope type ordeal, such thing is possible correct?

QUICK UPDATE! conveniently in my neighborhood, there is a ''bodega'' of which the man in charge there is making a GIGANTIC pile of ''abono'' or compost... he says he uses primarily saw dust, yard trimming, and top soil, nothing special. Ill be going to a coffee farm to my left today to see what they do.

AN OTHER UPDATE! I was walking into town; about a mile walk with farms to my left an right, spoke to a ground-keeper of a local farm called '' Tamarindo'' and asked him what do they use for fertilizer and if they make they're own. In summation he told me that what they do in their farm is after all the beans have been harvested, they use the coffee beans waste which is all fruit meat and bean plants after harvested. They dig a big hole in the ground and they start layering this coffee ''byproduct'' and bean plants scrap, then a layer of dried leaves; IDK how many layer they go up to but this is a proper way of making compost. They don't use any sort of activator and he didnt say how often the churn it so Id imagine it takes a long as time to make.

Tomorrow Ill hit the ''Amistad'' farm.

Your right, I mentioned this to him today but he said it has worked for him. Probably not the highest in nutritional value but people do with what they have here and he ends up selling this to neighboring farms that do make their own.

Just add something with a High Ph to balance it out ;)

hi,

just dropping by to help with one of your questions. you can get the sunrise and sunset (and so the dayllight hours) from lots of services on the net, here is one set for Nicaragua (coz thats where that other guy said he was). You can change it obviously and go forward to check it. Good luck man dont get ass raped by the policia.

There's very decent to outstanding soil in all of Central America. Get a proper hold of the rain schedule in your area and you can really grow all year long. I do, and I'm a few borders away lol
