CFL in any socket

I was just wondering if i bought CFL bulbs, can i just put them in any lamp and they will work to grow or do you need a special lamp to go with it?

No special socket needed unless its a high wattage 300w+ it will have a mogul socket which is a little bigger than a normal e26 socket.

95% of the cfls are self ballasted so all you have to do is screw them in to the light socket or mogul base socket depending upon how big you go with the bulb

Personally I have only seen 1 U shaped cfl that did not have a ballast built into it at my hardware store
