I am going to grow some bud in a box about 4' tall and 4' on each side. I need to use CFL's because i dont have the space for and I can't cool HID lights. So I was lookin at the sto and I was wonderin if it is better to use T8 or T12 lights. what's the difference and what is better. Or should i get some of those compact fluorescent bulbs? btw i was thinking of like 4 plants and six tubes. Also, what type of bulbs for veg/flowering cycle. cool/warm white, daylight?

Many people examine the lumans per watt ratio and then consider overal cost. Based on what I have seen, and the comments of others on this site and other sites, I would recommend T5 or CFLs.

T5 bulbs are manufactured in single phosphur and mutli-color phoshur varieties and CFLs are produced in (colors) 2700K, 4000K, and 6500K.

T8s and T12s cost more to operate. Although, T12s are the cheapest bulbs to purchase.

Large institutions are generally heading toward T5s.
