need some help people, my last two plants died because my grow area was getting well too hot :/, was 40 degrees every night, because i have nothing to exhaust the air, so i wasnt sure weather to buy a bigger fan and direct it onto the light, or get a 300 cfl bulb or a 250 hps? what temps do them lights get up to?

oh and btw the light i was using is a 400 watt dual spectrum. thanks :)

build an exhaust....its one of the best things u can do.....trust me.....hook it to the dryer vent if u need to...but after light/nutes id say exhaust is most importantu need to get that hot/stale air out

hps and a stronger fan exhasting would be better overall but you may able to get away with a 300 watt cfl and a fan blowing on the tops of your plants

why not use a cool tube with a vortex inline exhaust fan. 400W mh kicks cfl's ass for flowering.

i cant afford a cool tube mate, the hydroponics shop near wher i live charged me 100 quid just for the bulb and reflector :/

is that the best thing u think i can do? would i still get the same problem if i changed lights?
u might be able to get away with it(as long as u can get that heat down)....probably end up with scrawnier plants for it too....assuming u had everything else setup

so do you think as long as i can a little 4 inch exhaust fan with sum pipe exhausting the hot air out my temps should go down and the plants will grow nice? sorry for sounding like a dumbass mate but im new to this

hope so mate :/ because every time i leave my light on for 18 hrs, the temp gets up to 40 degrees, and the top of both my plants leave curled upwards ethier side and dried up with little red dots on them if that makes sense?

yea get a good exhaust system, best thing u can do.....i use a 250w hps ina a 27inch by 3ft deep and 65 inch high grow box and a 4in inline fan and carbon filter and my temps stay right around 75-79

my grow space is about 2 ft x 2ft x 6ft. carbon filter? do you think itl b alrite with just a 4inch exhaust fan with a pipe attached to it leading out of the grow space? :)

MH? i was gna use my 400 hps to grow my seedlings and all the way through the cycles?
thats what i do my friend...doesnt hurt a thing.....and your other question no u dont necesarily need a carbon filter, u can be just fine without one

without exhausting the air,

the heat will just build up and keep on building.

fans will just move the hot air around (making it somewhat better, but not fixing the problem)

even a small cfl will do this, just more slowly.

so, if you cant exhaust, you are gonna have to settle for smaller lights. (and even they will be a bit of a bother and the plants not as healthy, they need fresh air)

you dont always need a carbon filter, can use negative pressure and some strains smell very little,

but if you exhaust where people can smell it or might, and if there is some smell, might want to get a carbon filter.

and if you dont know your strain and need to vent where people might smell, its probably best to get a carbon filter.

they can be cheap, for a small system.

bit of a joke mate, talking about not affording 100 ..

i understand, but its still a joke, you buy weed yeah? (if you dont, my apologies and this doesnt apply :))

if you do, then you know, 100 is just a bit of weed.

but lemme tellya..

once you grow and were buying before, 100´s are gonna stick around lot longer.

and weed will stop feeling like money to you ;)

before i was growing, i would never just forget weed somewhere ;) (never sold and never was rich)
