cfl vs hps i need some facts

so my friend used to grow and used hps. he got great bud at the end but the power costs were crazy 2 x 1k watts = 400 a month

so i was thinkin of tryin to grow a plant in a closet with cfl's but what are the power cost differences between the 2. also how many cfls would i need?
also the lumens of hps 1000 are they so much stronger that i wont get good bud with cfls?

you can get very good bud from cfl's, they work great for small grow setups
those powers costs for the 2 x 1k are very high, but i've seen others report the same
at 0.13 per kilowatt hr, that bill should be closer to $100

that is a huge electric bill for 1000w light...go hps if possible

400.00 per month is unreal. I use 2- 400 watt, and pay an extra 40.00 a month. You can also use a 10hr. on, 14 off light cycle in flower to save some cash.
