Hello Roll it uppers,

Im just about done with my Mother cabinet room and have a couple of question about cfl's since i cant afford another HPS/MH set up. Well, first of all will 12 cfl's be enough for 2-3 mom's?. I might throw a couple of the long floro's in the corners to. The mothers area is around 4 1/2 ft tall X 4ft wide X 3 ft deep. The whole room will be coverd in Mylar.
I ended up going to a home depot and got a bathroom light strip that holds 6 bulbs and then got the dual fixtue light sockets so that will be the 12 lights. I spent $25 total so far. Whats the best/cheapest (oxy moron) cfl's to use???

Thanks

you can get 4 packs of 26 watt(100w equivelents at lowes for like 7 bucks

You can pretty much veg with either 6500k or 2700k, the spectrum only really starts to matter when you go into flowering. I use those cheap store brand cfls (ACE) and they work fine for me.

Thanks for the info. Whats the differece between the 6500K and the 2700K?
Thanks

6500k have the more flourecent look, the light that would be in a hostipital or somting like that. Which resemebles the sun in the height of summer. 2700k is a more orangeish look. Its supose to resemble the sun in the fall, which is when flowering starts. So if you can get 6500k cfls, it would be better. But either would work fine just for a mother plant

That will be fine what you want to do is veg with 6500k bulbs (I used 5000k and it worked well) then switch to 2700k bulbs for flowering. I have almost the same set up as you with CFLs and my stuff is doing good. Good luck and remember to keep the CFLs about 3-6 inches away from the plants for maximum results. And make sure to do something with all the heat that many CFLs will turn that cabinet into an oven if you don't have a way of venting it. :mrgreen:

You should read this. It will explain CFL to you in depth.

Good Luck!

Thanks that definetly helped.++rep
But i still am wondering if 12 if the 23w (100w equivelent) would do for my small space.
I went out and measured the space and its a little smaller than what I guessed and wrote up there earlier. Its 2 1/2 ft deep X 3 1/2 feet wide and around 4 1/2 ft high. Im thinking with 2 possibly 3 mothers it should be all right.
Anybody want to add anything please feel free to.
Thanks
