Chicken shit

Im trying to order a couple yards of soil and while they have several mixes available they all contain composted chicken shit.

Here is the mix im looking at
Pasted

A blend of aged, screened sawdust, dairy compost, Mt. St. Helens volcanic sand, compost, fir fines, peat moss, composted chicken manure, gypsum and iron. Great for vegetable gardens and flower beds. Drains well to keep root crops, like dahlias, bulbs, and carrots, healthy even with frequent watering. It can be used for seeds, turf topdressing, vegetable gardens and flower beds that like a higher pH and will be watered regularly. 7.0 pH.

I have to assume they added a safe amount and as long as I don't feed until later in the season this will work.

I would feel better about it though
If you looked at this mix and let me know.

They have other blends with ph of
6.3 or 7.4 Instead of the 7.0 above

Any manure from a grass eater, is like gold.
Worms love the digested grasses. So do all the microbes. Its loaded with all the gut bacteria as well.
But it has to be fully composted. Otherwise its quite anaerobic. Burns plants. Starts rot. Attracts pests. Doesn't drain well.

It just works better with the added grass, never tried goat poop.

Goat poop is awesome, won't burn. I would collect the straw from where we sequestered the babies overnight and that stuff was fire. The urine was immediate available and would green up plants nicely, with the poop pellets hanging around and acting as a more slow release fertilizer.

As long as it’s composted, you should be fine. I top dress my plants with chicken manure compost all the time. They love it.
I use chicken in my base mix, haven't had a problem.
The the bags of it I get are labeled 3-2-2, which seems pretty hot, even for chicken shit

I like using Charlie's compost brand shiken poop...it's tha shit son. You don't need very much either to get a nice deep green on the leaves. I drop about a 1/2 handful in the bottom layer of every final size bloom container.

Walmart sells an “Organic Garden Fertilzer” which is composted poultry manure and feather meal 7-1-2 close out prices start in August I think. Been using for years and is great stuff. I use in mixes and top dress.
