Clamping 1/2" Hose To Water Pump?

I bought some 1/2" stainless steel hose clamps to keep the connection secure, but I wasn't thinking about them rusting :\ I've tried zip ties, but they're not strong enough since my tubing is so thick. Are there any other solutions here? I've looked online and found a single brass clamp for $10 but I was hoping there would be an easier solution since my seeds have already germinated and I'm kind of rushed.

Stainless can rust with certain chemicals. It's stain(less). The lower the grade the more carbon in it. Most bands are 308 stainless. While the better stuff is 440-480 stainless.

But for the OP the hydro store or hardwhere stores will have plastic clamps. If you need it real tight just use pliers to push it together. I have to use a few myself. Work good but a pain in the ass to remove. But think that's a good thing.

I'm using 1 of those per pump submerged in my reservoirs right now and no issues (5 weeks in). I think they will be good for a while.

I don't want to do silicone really, and I don't live near a hydro store.

I had it in my reservoir for 5 days and the bolt started rusting a little, will it hurt my plants at all?

No, it's probably not gonna hurt your plants. I use gfo(granular ferric oxide) in my saltwater fish tanks with all sorts of corals, and that is basically just rust. It helps pull phosphates out of the water in larger quantities, but a little on a clamp shouldn't have any effect.

next time give it a good spray with Q20 or some other lubricant before useing.
