cloning from stem

hi all, just a quick question !
if i was to cut my mj plant by the stem and transplant her will it work or do i have to take cuttings ! because in have about 10 plants growing right next to eachother because im a newb !
so i want to give the unhealthier ones to my friend !
do u think it is possible to just cut the plant at the base and just have soil ready for it ! will it gorw a new root system ?thanx all

You can reveg the plants, but you have to leave some leafy green on the bottoms of the plants.
