Cloning Stripping vs cutting branches

When cloning is it better to snip off the unnecessary branches or to strip them off.

Reason why I ask is I have heard that if you strip the branches off like string cheese and it exposes the inside of the stem that roots will be more likely to grow.

Which is better?

Anyone? Srry I'm double posting

cut the branches off your mother then slit it up the buttom about a quater inch then scrape the buttom slighty with a blade.
