Cloning the topping of a plant?

I've never been one to top a plant, but I recieved some free Thai Skunk seeds from Attitude and threw two in soil and they took off. None the less they outgrew the other 4 strains and I'm tired of raising my light every three days. So I will try topping these for a trial run and see how I like this method.

I'm at week six from seed and have been using Advanced Nutrients Sensi 2 Part for three weeks and have reached 19 inches in height. I plan on utilizing UncleBens way to produce 4 main colas. Once the topping takes place though, what is stopping me from making this a clone and just dipping in some clonex and throwing in a root plug? Maybe I am mistaken but it would seem to me that this is just like taking a big cutting except you are using the main stem. Thanks for any help.

The determining factor for clones is not decided by where your cutting is taken from. The top of your plant should make a fantastic clone. Update with pics!

the closer you clone from the top the faster teh roots grow but if you talking about topping a plant to slow down growth then just rip/cut the top set of leaves check out femming you get more colas and a smaller plant
