Close call!

My husband works for a rail company and has been on nights all week, last night when he reached his place of work for the night the supervisor spoke to the signal man and took what they call a block on the line, this stops all trains from using this line whilst the work is carried out. He then told the men which line they were working on and they preceded to unload the equipment required for the job, the equipment is loaded onto a motorised trolley and consisted of gas bottles, lights, power tools etc. The trolley is then used on the track to take the stuff to the place of work, they had just finished loading the trolley when a 90mph train came round the bend on the same track! My husband dived from the trolley to the side of the track along with one of his colleagues, the train missed them by seconds and crashed into the trolley taking it up the track, the gas bottles exploded and debris was thrown into the air narrowly missing my husband and colleague. The supervisor had instructed them to work on the wrong track and was busy rolling a cigarette when the train struck. The train stopped and the emergency services were called and the driver of the train treated for shock, my husband and his colleagues were alcohol and drug tested and interviewed by the railway police. Their is now a major investigation going on as to why it happened, it seems to me the reason is the supervisor fucked up! and its lucky my husband and colleagues weren't killed. I guess it just wasn't his time.

WOW............this is scary as hell.........

I wouldn't want to worry like that, about my man , while he worked !!!!

Back in the '60's my guys step dad, worked as a brakeman , on a track , in a big yard where they assemble the full trains.

One worker, fell off the roof of one of the cars, and was impaled, dying on the sight.

It's dangerous work........thoughts , and thankfulness , with you, Granny !!!

Jesus! When it's your time eh? After Potters Bar I think there have always been stringent investigations. This was human error though. The supervisor should be reprimanded severely.

No wonder you smoke... your life is full of activity ;-)
I'm glad to hear he's safe, make him a favorite meal or something...
