Closet Grow refine ideas

Hey so I just moved into a new apt and I've decided to build a cab measuring 54"Hx40"Wx24"D. I was debating about having 2 rooms, splitting the cab down the middle vertically but I wanted to incorperate LST with a grate over the plants(scrog method i think) one question about that was if I have the plants in the veg room with a grate over them can they easily be moved into the flower room? or would it be easier to not cut the box in half and just have one chamber(I just want to yield as often as possible haha)? They will be grown in soil. I was going to use CFLs(low budget college student) for lighting, how many would I need for this area? wattage? The lights will be hanging freely in the cab but the entire inside will be covered with mylar. I have a few fans for ventilation, do I need exhaust and intake fans? Or only exhaust? I was also thinking about putting a stronger fan to cool down and strengthen plants. The exhaust(s) will be located on the roof of the cab(heat rises so i figured the roof is the best spot, the intakes will be located at the bottom on the side(s) of the cab. I have a few rough hand drawings, is there an free easy program that I can draw plans on my mac?

Will get pics of my drawings up as soon as i get my iphone fixed. Any help greatly appreciated.

I run my ventilation exactly as you describe, except it pulls through the light hood to cool the bulb.... as long as you have a large enough extraction fan, you'll be fine with just that, though I would put a fan in there to blow the plants around..... dunno what to tell you about the scrog thing.

Sounds like a good plan.

You can use small computer fans for exhaust. 6in fan + power supply at Radio Shack $50. Passive intake is best. Check the DIY section for plans to make a filter (absolute requirement) from cheap office supplies and pantyhose. Get the charcoal at Walmart in the fish department.

Once the plants are vegged in the screen, they can never be moved. One chamber for you. Make the box taller and maybe you can keep clones up there.

Put as many CFLs as you can fit in there. Mix up the color temperature/spectrum. Is there a used building supply in your town? Habitat for Humanity? Used bathroom light bars are perfect for this app.

A small oscillating desk fan is a must. Clip on type.

Hope this helps,
Fred

ya I have some fans from old comps i will be using. I wish I had more room to build it taller there is just a built in shelf in my apt that cant be moved but im going to look into some other options. I aalso saw something on here about carbon filters at the pet store? but ill just do the cheaper for now. ya there are many places I can go to get lights and fixtures, how would anyone suggest to hang the lights in the box just from single outlet chords. hopefully will have all the materials soon to begin construction. Thanks for all the help Fred.

Heres a very rough drawing all criticism welcome

Thats the point of old bathroom light bars. You can hang 20 bulbs in there with 3 or 4 light bars. More light=more bud. At Habitat they're about $1 each. Buy a plug at Walmart for $2 and you're in business.
Find that DIY for a filter. It costs about $8 to make. You wont be able to keep your grow a secret without a filter. A plant 5-6 weeks into flower stinks like a roadkill skunk.
