co2 Question

I have 2 little grow rooms.one is a closet one is a small tent.i made that co2 mix that i read about on here,the suger yeast thing.and i put the mix in open top buckets in the gardens.ive read latley that your sappossed to use little bottles with bublers or balloons with a hole in them on top.why is this?does that mean my open top buckets wont work?if not,could somebody enligten me as to why?any help would...help.thanx.

i tryed it didn't help much at all... what did work was carbonated water with no sodium

I think the ballon with a hole is just to evenly distribute your flow. Unless your making a large batch of this, I doubt it's putting off much CO2. Here's my take on CO2...

If you can afford tanks, regulators, go for it you'll get a huge boost. You can get into this for starting at about $300. The other serious option is a burner (keep heat in mind)

Most other DIY CO2 systems are pretty inefficient and unreliable. IMO, don't waste your time.
-Yeast
-Carbonated Water
-Dry Ice
The only exception might be making wine. If you have a big enough brew going you can get some good CO2 from that.


Besides, like someone mentioned, a couple people just living in the area of the plants will do fine for CO2 generation.

holy fuck 300$? buddy where did you get your co2 and shit

you can get a big tank of co2 that would last months for like 30$ and a regulator on ebay for around 50-70$

Tank alone usually costs 30 bucks. I'd love to hear where you can get a 20lb tank filled with co2 for 30bucks. I'd be all over that shit. The decent regulators from the hydroshop (ie warranty covered, not Japanese crap) are about 130-150.

tank is like around 20$ you can go to a paint ball store lol they sell co2 for like a do

i guess its 20$ for the tank sometimes you can buy a tank and get a free fill... but its around 20$ to fill a 20lb tank..

and ive seem people use the Japanese crap you speak of off ebay for around 50$ they work fine....


you can go to any welding place or paint ball shop.... they have cheap co2...

even a damn party store you can get it for that cheap

Called local welding supply company.

20 lb tank is $192 to purchase tank, $15 per fill.

50 lb tank is $295 to purchase tank, $35 per fill.

Add in cost of regulator, and a timer... and gee its gettin pretty close to 300 quick.


If there really is a cheaper way, I'm all ears. Obviously if you can eliminate 200 cylinder cost, but where else can I find one cheaper?

Edit: can I use something like this?

yeah i check too... my bad i was thinking of 20oz.... stupid me

yeah 140$ 20lb tank filled 50-100$ regulator since you don't like the cheap ones total around 200$

You may also consider CO2 tablets that aquarium supply stores sell for water plants. Its basically an alka seltzer that proudces 350 CC of CO2 in a matter of minutes. I just bought some today and will be hanging a pop can from the top of my area and putting it in there with the water.

So i gave the CO2 tablets a shot this weekend. Used 4 of them over a 3 day period. Holy cow. My humidity went up, my temps went up, and the leaves got a bit darker, wtih new growth from all my FIM areas. I was pleased.
