Coco + BioSevia, seedlings. Have I overfed them?

Please see attached pictures. The light is 2x23w CFL 18/6 (growing indoors, but that goes without saying I think :) ). There are two in coco/perlite (50/50) and one is in soil (growing well). But the two in coco has begun to turn yellow and doesn't grow. Underfed, overfed, salt built up or something else? What do you think?

Substrate:
Bio Green Coco mix 50% and Perlite 50%

Nutrients, all from General Hydroponics Europe:
BioSevia Grow (3ml/10L)
BioSevia Bloom (3ml/10L)
Bioponic Mix (BM) (1g/10L)
Bio Roots (2ml/10L)
Diamond Nectar (20ml/10L)

Light:
2 x 23W CFL 6500K light 2 inches above the plants

I'm feeding them every other day, pH at 5.7, run-off is around 6.2

I have flushed them both now, adding a bit of epsom salt and only at 1/5 of nutrient strength. Crossing my fingers

As bass said, they don't need nutes for the first few weeks. If you must feed them, 1/4 strength. Also, feeding every other day is too frequent. You need to let the medium dry out some to allow oxygen to get to the roots. Is there chlorine/chloramine in the water?

The reason I started giving the plantes nutes was because I read that by the third set of real leaves (and when the Cotyledon started to go yellow), it was time to feed the plants. I flushed with 1/5 nute strength

Thanks, I have read a lot of coco threads, and the thing about wet or dry confuses me. Most I have read is that coco/perlite is next to impossible to overwater, so water every day. But there are also those like you who says to dry it out. The reason I don't think I can dry it out is because the Trichoderma Harzianum fungus (bioponic mix) would die if I do


Also, there is no chlorine in our water.

@Dr Kynes: I don't get it. Are you growing in coco or soil? Because almost everybody says that you should prepare your coco mix with 1/4 strength nutes and then just water until the Cotyledon begins to turn yellow, usually when there's 2-3 sets of true leaves. I know you don't feed in soil the first 2-3 weeks.

Maybe prepare soil with nutes, and then just water, but you can't feed seedlings every two days. Why are feeding seedlings bloom? And also, your soil looks way too wet.
Pot's that size, you should only have to give water every few days.

  • Thanks bwest, I will let it dry out more. GHE recommends using a little BioSevia bloom juice in the beginning, first two weeks, that's why.​

mate dont let them dry out or you will realy fuck them .1 what i can see there already in big pots you need to feed them every time the top layer gets dry get a moisture meter, 2 you only have wet to dry is when you have them in small pots and .6 ec max when there that young,dont forget your not in soil dont let people on this site confuse you most of them use soil big difference especially if your in 50/50 coco perlite .do you get it you said the one in soil is fine but the ones in coco arnt needs more feedes and drop ec get that moisture meter youll be cruising.ill give you example i run 70/30 coco perlite feed five times in 18hrs in 14L pots once they get bigger i drop down on the feeds because the top layer gets dry so quick but once those roots start going down the pot and getting bigger they will be feeding from the bottom where there is plenty of moisture to much to write this should be enough to get you on your way later.

Thanks, yeah, I know a lot of soil growers tends to give wrong answers to coco growers. I wish everybody who answered here would say what substrate they're using.
