Coco mediums and nutrient ratios.

So I'd like to start a thread about people's experience with growing in coco mediums and there feeding schedule as opposed to the recommended amount of nutrients for hydroponic growing, provided by the manufacturer.

I use Tupur, it is a coco based hydro medium with perlite, oyster shells, etc.

I use advance nutrients Jungle Juice line as my base as well as the following boosters:
Big Bud
b-52
Overdrive
Bud Candy

I found that if I gave them the complete diet all the time, my plants were way too dark and twisted. I'm not sure if this is because even though coco is a hydroponic medium, it still stores some nutrients in its fibers?

So I came up with this schedule.
2 days full nutes and boosters
2 days water
2 days full nutes, no boosters
1 day water
repeat
(obviously I'm not giving all the boosters at once, it's based on weeks into flowering)

*also, I do NOT give them ANY nutrients past week 6.

Since I've been doing this the plants have straight, spikey leaves, deep rich forest green, and no signs of any deficiency either.

Anyone else fucked with the traditional ratios for the sake of coco?

I'd really like to hear anyone experiences, and please, tell us your mistakes so we can learn.

I use canna coco nutes.

CANNA COCO A/B
Rhizotonic
CANNAZYM
Pk1314
Potassium silicat
Mono Ca
Mono Mg.

I monitor EC in vs EC out.

Never EVER do I use plain water.

400w hps coco/perlite

Average is generally +400g a harvest.

I am currently using coco and am also doing a side by side comparison between a one part organic product and a multi part Botanicare mix. I am following the instructions on the organic box for veg @20ml per gal (box instructions reading 10-20 ml for veg) and the Botanicare mix ratio came from the previous grower(I took over consulting/managing of the project). The only thing in common we add to each one is cal/mag and PH to 5.8-6.0

So far I have found that the one part is just as good as the multi part mix and have in fact seen signs of deeper shades of green on some of the plants along with some thicker stems. I will be publishing the results when finished. Only 17 days into flower as of now...interesting thing is that they claim on the one part organic that you take the liquid grow/veg 4 weeks into flower @ 40-50 ml before adding an additional dry mix finisher...a bit skeptical but am giving it a try and documenting the results. Only thing is that the organic is a "hot mix" or a mix and use product, not a mix and store like the Botanicare we have and can sometimes be a pain in the arse when you are short a few gallons and have to do a re-mix.

So as far as the thread goes...I am following the box, at least for now until I figure out which nutes work more successfully, then I will keep going with the better product and experiment to find the right levels.
Always using R/O water as well.
