Cold water before harvest

I'm on my first grow and ihave been searching these forums like crazy. One guy said it might be beneficial a few hours before harvest to hit the roots with really cold ice water to trick it into thinking it is getting cold. The end result is to have more thc in your final product. I have also heard not to water at all several days before harvest. So I was wondering what everyone on RIU thinks. And if you think this is a stupid question just don't respond, cuz I don't care about reading a bunch of smart ass remarks.
 
Colder temps at lights out will help get more trics. But ice on the roots will bring out any blue or purple strains color.

THC increases in a matter of hours when the plant would be going into shock sounds like a bucket of meadow muffins to me.
 
i've heard some similar things and seen some research on it. i put my plants in the dark for 48-56 hours before i chop them. so i water with colder water (50-55 degrees) before i put them into the dark and i also reduce the temperature in the room to 60-65 degrees during the dark period. seem to help a lot. from what i understand the THC production is a defense mechanism by the plant to protect itself from the colder temps and frost possibility.
 
Wow man nice plants.
I have also heard from many sourced that cold or cold waterings will bring out purples in the plant and buds. Cant comment on increasing THC thought.
