Combining lights

Hey hey hey,
I have just planted my seedlings (8) under my 400 watt MH and i also put an 80 watt, 4 foot long flourescent at a 45 degree angle over the plants as well. I'm wondering if this is a good idea. My logic is that the more light i can get on those guys the quicker they will grow. Also, should I leave the flourescent there during flowering as well, when i switch to my HPS bulb?
any help/comments would be appreciated.
Thanks!

I say just use the fluoro light until seedlings are 6 inches tall or so, THEN switch to just the MH light until flowering. in flower use HPS and use the fluoro to light up lower bud sites. The MH light may be a bit too harsh for seedlings. Make sure temps dont go above 80-85F.

if your temps dont get too high (83 +) then it will do more harm then good. so basically that should give you an answer.
