Comments on my hypothetical future setup?( sorry, no pictures yet

If I were to start my first grow soon, I would be on a tight budget. If I was going to start, my plan would be to start out with 1, maybe 2 plants. I would practice my first grow with some good ole regs bagseeds. This would be after I sexed them and determined a female. I would Buy a grow lamp from wal mart(a 10$ one) and get some organic miracle grow and some good potting soil. I would also use 4-6 6500k or 5000k cfl's placed to the sides of the grow lamp and slightly below it. The grow lamp would be directly above the plant at the right height to prevent stretching of the plants. I wouldn't use a timer at first since they will be on a 24/0 schedule anyway during veg. This would all most likely take place in a closet or closet sized space. Then when I started the flowering I would swap out the cfl's to 2700k or 3000k bulbs and switch to a 12/12 for all of the lights. I have been trying to read up on information and look at others' setups and trying to not start out completely ignorant. Any and all help or suggestions and advice are welcome. Also ask if you think I might have left any info out because it's very possible, I'm forgetful. Thank you in advance for all the help.

Idk. Sounds good since you're on a tight budget. Small plant small yield but definitely a good first grow and learning experience. Nutrients for flower?

Dude, really I don't wanna come off like the trolls that will certainly jump on you like a fungus gnat to a rotten banana. There are tons of people on here that are actually growing cannabis. No one here is going to want to walk you through a fantasy grow.

Again, I am just being truthful not hurtful. Do some more reading and video watching etc. Taking time to do this will pay off big time. It will also allow you to save some $ so you can start a grow with some better plans than what you describe. Best of luck!

just dont do it.. your plant will NOT turn out how u imagine. it will look bad and be needing more $$ 100 true watts of CFL will yield well under 1 gram per watt... it will not be worth the time wasted. Wait until you can afford good soil, good water, good amount of light and the basic pH meter and light timers. You should expect to grow a successful plant for about $100. The more you put in, the more you get out.

I'm not planning on getting a giant chronic plant with awesome sticky buds. I just want it to go through a successful life cycle. As I gain experience I will start putting more money into it. And I can't watch videos very much because I don't have a computer. And i suppose
I have overlooked the nutes, thank you! Any suggestions for nutes would be great but I'm going to start reading as soon as I'm done with this post! All I really have access to is a small flower shop and a Wal Mart because I live In a small town. And I don't consider hardly anything trolling, it's just criticism and I welcome it as long as your not just talking straight shit. This is all if I start a grow. ;)

Also I will have light timer for flowering and will use distilled water... Would normal fluorescents do much better than cfl's? And I'm not gonna start this anytime soon... Probably not for a few months I just thought some advice along with more reading would help as well. And I and definitely going to get pH meters
And the items to adjust pH.

Well, I am certainly not going to try to talk anyone out of growing cannabis. But if you are planning on using MG, you will not be needing any additional nutes. Especially if you mix MG potting soil, perlite and sphagnum for your medium. They all have time released water activated nutrients. Towards the end of the life cycle you may want to get some CalMag. But other than that adding to MG and not watering properly are the reasons why people hate their products. If you use all 3 products I suggest a 4:1:1 mix ratio.

This is of course if you start a grow. Again, best of luck to you...let us know when you make the leap...I will give you rep.

Even if I yield 1g I will consider my first grow a success. And I'm sure it cant be much worse than the rest of the stuff circulating around
My area. There is pretty much only shitty ditch weed for a
50 mile radius.

If I were in your shoes I would go and buy the following. 2 - 42W 6500k CFL's, a light socket y splitter and a socket adapter and an extension cord. And hang that above your plant. If you have any money left grab a timer. at least you have something that will keep your plant alive for the time being. Then what you do is read your ass off and when ever you can go and buy more shit.

simple.

One time I was forced to veg 2 plants under 2 40W cool white tubes for their entire veg cycle. They finished beautifully.

Oh and as I recall I used the MG mix I described in the earlier post for that grow as well.:leaf:

I only have access to a small flower shop and a Wal Mart. Are there better options that I could get from those places?

I have been reading on this and there seem to be people on both sides so I would like to hear for myself. Regardless of what soil I start with would it hurt to add some organic ferts such as manure and other ferts I can find myself? And would I have to worry about burning the plants?

Light isn't the only thing you have to consider your setup with light should be fine for a first grow although I would not use it, I have seen plenty of grows to prove that light isn't the biggest thing in the growing world although it will help to have more its not necessary in your situation. you have to include all other environmental factors (for example you could have X amount of lights and so on but if your temps are hitting above 85 degrees Fahrenheit your gonna get nowhere that goes for every other environmental factor) as for soil there are many local soils that you may have in your area but I have seen some decent grows with Miracle Grow so that shouldn't pose to be too much of an issue. Bottom line is READ, READ, READ... Learn as much as you can only than you can be tempted to go bigger and better but this will be a great experience to learn from.
GOOD LUCK HOPE THIS HELPS
