most computer case fans are 12v, and usually under half an amp. You could probably find a 12v adapter in your junk drawer in your kitchen. Trust me, go look...now! Make sure it's 12v! That 9v adapter will under power it. Now cut the end off and connect the wires.
If your fan has 3 wires (prob yellow red black), use the yellow and black. The red is for 5 volts and you should just ignore it. After you connect your wires, plug it in. If it doesn't work, reverse the wires and try again.
You can use adapters from old electronics, cell phones, some laptops, or you can buy one from Radio Shack for about $12 or so.
Once you have it working, solder and tape or use small wire nuts. Insulate!!!
How big is your grow room? Most case fans barely manage to keep the inside of a computer case cool. My veg box is under 40 cubic feet and my fans are probably pushing 200-250 cfm easy.
