Configuring the best ventilation for my grow area LOTS OF PICS! Come take a look!

Ok well currently I have my fan, pic below to show you. Which is a 8 inch with 6 inch flange adapter on it. I now have it hooked upstairs in attic sucking air from the 400 w cool tube and the exhaust of my portable a/c unit.

Yes folks, I rigged my a/c unit exhaust to the other side of cool tube. It is not humid, and much better as the window was not a option. I was concerned about the negative force created from the fan to the exhaust, but I felt by the time it reached the a/c unit it would not do any harm to it. It seems to take it very well as the heat quickly escapes and it pushes air even more so helping the fan. Anyways, I found it to really help and temps are ideally...well I never had this much control with both my lights on and not having a heat issue. If anything, I have to make sure it does not get to cold! lol....

Well I am trying to keep in mind is down the road, I want to have a grow tent for a flower room, apx 4X4X7.5 , with a 1000w hps cool tube. I also which I already own a carbon filter and I plan on using that soon , when my plants go into flower...I want to make sure I have a plan and a really good one to optimize space, cost, and effectivness.

The question is whats the best way to set this up? I included below all the current pics I have taken to show how i have currently set up.

I am guessing I am going to need another fan, and if that is the case, I rather get something of decent size to cope with the long ventilation tubing and weird angles that cut the airflow.

they have alot of options out there, but I just dont want to think of it myself, then overlook a easier and much cheaper way... and say why did I do that?

Still debatin on my lights but I want some decent lightin ffor my flower room, seeing how it can affect yield. I might even go with 2 600 or 2 400 watts instead of just 1 1000w...

Thanks... the plants are in my grow journals in my sig... both are active.. still early in there stages.... however I am trying to tweak my set up and cut back on unneccessary expenses by only buying what I need. Still need to figure out best way to hook up my carbon filter, as smell will be a big issue.

Cool thanks, but I already have a professional one that I bought, but will keep that in mind for future reference. So I already have a filter I just dont know whats best way to hook it up.

I say that because I have to worry about my a/c exhaust and light exhaust. So whereever I have exhaust going to I need to make sure air is clean before being exhausted out somewhere outside of grow room.

Guys any idea how I am going to hook up my carbon filter to what I currently have going on, setup wise? Maybe I should draw a pic too to kinda help.

I figured so... I probably do is get 1 600..then another one down the road perhaps... I just do not know HOW to hook my carbon filter up to my system . I will include a pic layout of how i currently have my exhaust system setup...

Ok here is a pic of how I have my setup currently laid out.

I have my ac exhaust hooked up with my fan, to ensure all the heat escapes out of grow room. Now I am sure I may have to modify it to get the carbon filter put on, I just do not know how to put it on...

I mean I know how too...but for this setup how would I effectively have it hooked up?

Normally, you have two options for attaching the filter. Either having air pulled through it, or air pushed out of it. Pulling air is much more efficient.
However, you have an AC unit on the end that would normally be pulling air through, so you would have to push it through and attach it to the fan side.

OK so your saying that I have to attach it to the other side?

Well keep in mind, my AC exhaust is creating positive pressure and pushing air to the fan. The fan is sucking air from within the grow room. Would I attched it infront of the fan so it be pulling the air? but that create a problem and also suck air from the attic too, and possible cut back on the cfm that is being cycled from the grow area. Or do I put it behind the fan so as it sucking air from grow area, the small pressure that it creates on the other side is being pushed through a carbon filter?

So this morning i went in to check on plants it was 90 degrees! wow! so the room is pretty well sealed off, with alot of negative pressure.. So my door is open to let air out cycling.. I was wondering perhaps if I should get a window unit as well.

If you think about it the portable ac is exhausting the air into attic, however still heats up part of room anyways. That part of the room is where it also gets its intake thus creating the hot air. So if that part was cooled by the window unit would that work? For odor control I be using DIY Ona gel bucket... and I notice with the heat the bucket was helping that much... I think this be probably a good idea unless someone can tell me why it wouldnt be.

Any suggestions? I was also thinking about getting a exhaust for that room with a fan to cycle out that air.

Have you thought of getting a portable ac with the two hoses on the back?

aslo i had a question how quiet is it having that fan in the attic i have the same one

easy dude i had the same confussion when setting up my cool tube, light, and filter, the way i set it up was:

carben filter conected to the cooltube then the cooltube connected to the fan so the fan is sucking air from your grow room through your filter therefor reducing smell, but!! to make this work best you need an intake fan to bring cool fresh air into the grow room creating the full cycle of air exchainge, and have a powerfull enough fan to exchainge the air within the grow room many times an hour. doing this will decrease grow time increse yrild and resin production. if you can afford one get a controle for temp and hume so this controles everything for you

so first hing work out the area of the grow space, wxlxh then times that by 6 and you get you amount of air that needs to be exchainged an hour get a fan thats slightly more powerfull. hope this is what you where askin as quite stoned while typing this
