conflicting answers regarding switching over to 12/12

I have read over and over about feminized seeds having a high chance of becoming hermies and I want to do as much as possible to avoid that. On 1 hand im reading that if I give the plant 36 hours of complete darkness when switching over to 12/12 it really helps reducing the risk of hermies. On the other hand im reading that giving plants darkness does nothing except at the end of the grow. Can someone clear this up for me?

Also is getting hermies common with feminised seeds?

I've read that feminized seeds are product of a female hermie fertilizing it's self, but at the same time the resulting generation might go hermie with less stress than its parent plant. Just don't open your tent during dark 12/12 or the plant will trip out and grow nuts. Its all about the UNINTERRUPTED 12/hr dark period. I had a male that I pulled out of my grow tent, and messed its light schedule up real bad. It actually put out female flowers. I'm using it for some cell cloning and grafting experiments. Check out this lecture and all the others by this professor. This lecture covers the photo-period stuff. I highly recommend watching these.

Avoid overall stress to reduce risk of hermification, but screwing with the flower photo-period is a real easy way to get a hermie.

36 hour dark period does nothing to make your plants less likely to hermie, i actually think if anything it is more likely to make them hermie as 36 hours in the dark is going to stress them out.

i have heard that putting plant in the dark before flowering makes them flower slightly quicker, i would never try it however so i'll let you be the guinea pig.

people ( myself included) leave their plants in the dark at the end of flowering as it is supposed to increase thc as the plant produces most of the thc in the dark period. i also find it makes it easier to trim a plant up as the fan leaves come off really easily.

He's already dead... Its actually an ant i found in my garden.

The only thing I could see that a 36hr dark period would ensure the plant to send the signal to flower, but stressing it at the same time. I'm not gonna do it, so post up your results if you do it.

I wouldn't put them into darkness for that long either way... I've experimented doing 24 hours darkness to induce, and no darkness at all just throwing them into my flower box. No noticeable difference.

putting them in 36 hour dark will stress them a little but does signal them to flower quicker. I prefer to do this when I have the space to put them in the dark for that long.
