CONTROL HIGH TEMPS

Wutsup growers, I set up a new grow with a 5x5 Gorilla grow tent and a 1000w Luxx DE Fixture with MH and HPS bulbs. 2 6’ clip fans and a 6’ exhaust fan. At 1000w i am hitting temps up to 104 degrees with the fixture roughly 4 ft from the ground. More fans? anything else i can do to control these high temps?

Running a open DE bulb in a tent is next to impossible. U can use the same ballast and bulbs but you need a sun system air cooled de hood. I converted mine to 6'' fittings, its plenty of cooling for just one light. You only need 8'' if you have 2-4 in a row. My tent never got over 78 my last grow.

u converted open your open DE to an air cooled system? how much did that run you?

The sunsystem air cooled DE hoods are running like 290 on amazon. I got mine off craigslist for 100... I paid 140 for my SolisTek ballast. So 240. Those 8'' to 6'' adapters on the hood were like 15$ each too. Im just saying you should be able to use the ballast for any DE fixture with the sunsystem hood.

thanks man, appreciate it, thought i was getn dat Jungle Boys shit and now i feel like i made a dumbass 600 dollar mistake

As you can see, the AC/DE reflector he is using flows the air above the reflector. Direct air cooling a DE bulb lowers it's temperature and diminishes the ARC efficiency. Air cooling a DE requires that your airflow is isolated from the lamp itself, instead flowing above the reflector.

OP not being an ass in any way. Is your thermometer under the light and/or in direct light? That will totally f up your numbers. Sorry if it seems silly but some people over look stuff like that.

nah no worries, it was in the corner of the floor, than i have two sensors at about 4 1/2 feet

Yeah open reflectors like that need lots of ceiling height to function as they are intended. You can still use the ballast and bulbs, just have to get the correct reflector. I put a lot of research into my setup before i got it.

I believe DE truly is worth it.... They are as efficient as the best LED boards out there. View attachment 4507074
wow that is beautiful, yea i thought through all the research switching from MH and HPS covering blue for veg and red for flower was the most optimal. Really appreciate the feedback too. Juss need to cool it down a bit, u think it to be difficult disconnecting the ballast/hood reflector/bulb?

Shit took a closer look at that light u have it looks like the hood is hard wired to it. Running that thing might not be an option....
