I am seeking advice on an issue that will ultimately lead to cooking in China. Please forgive me if this could have been appropriately posted elsewhere - this is my first time!
Alright, so here's the situation: I am in southwest China, and there is a plethora of cannabis growing wild on the sides of the streets, in fields, ditches, frontyards, everywhere in rural areas. I imagine it's pure or very close to pure Sativa. The Chinese don't care for it, so it seems. Right now the plants have produced buds and cola tops are forming. Most of them are at least 4 feet in height with multiple branches. Some are massive, spreading all over and ranging 6 - 10 feet tall. It rains on and off damn near everyday, but when it's not rainy it is still fairly warm and very sunny.
I do not plan on smoking it. I'm 95% sure it's crap, but I am by no stretch of the imagination a cannabis connoisseur (pretty laughable actually). Being caught firin' it up in China...being deported would be the least of my worries.
So, in lieu of smoking it, I wanna cook it up. I'm considering making Bhang with butter, milk (Chinese milk btw, which is essentially half 'n' half), some honey, and maybe some spices. Maybe Cannabutter at some point.
That's the plan anyway.
Now, some other facts: I've never seen a "live" marijuana plant in my life until here (yep - I'm a gram-or-two-of-bud-in-a-baggie kinda guy). I've never cooked with it nor consumed whacky snacks. I've obviously never harvested, dried, cured, or stored the stuff (oh, except in the baggie).
So basically...WHAT THE FUCK AM I DOING???
Don't get me wrong. I've researched. And I am more than willing. I just have a some questions:
1) Is it even safe to harvest this wild weed? What should I be watching out for?
2) Since it's wild and as there's no way to control pollination/hermaphrodites, is it worth the effort even if it's just for cooking? Or is this mainly a concern for smoking?
3) Would it be terrible (as in lack of potency and respect for the plant) to harvest before the proper time?
4) I don't have access to an oven nor a microwave. I've read (here: http://www.rexresearch.com/hhusb/hh6thc.htm#HH63 ) that boiling it for 2 hours will help decarb some of the THCa to THC. Should I do this immediately after I harvest it? Or at all? Sanitation purposes?
5) After #3 (or not), could I cook with the recently boiled (or fresh) cannabis without drying it?
Note: I could dry it. I can't hang dry because of space and air flow limitations, but I can use the shower heating lights. Wrap it in tin foil and place about 3 feet underneath for...until it's dry lol. I realize that fresh or wet weed would be pretty difficult to grind...
6) How much (in your opinion) should I start out with for cooking up a batch of Bhang? I could freeze what's left, but not refrigerate (communal kitchen - people use the fridge but the freezer is never used).
I guess what I am truly asking here is what would you guys suggest I do in this situation?
I appreciate the advice and thanks for bearing with my long ass post!
