Cool Tube Exhaust Question

I was going to make a cool tube for a 1000 watt hps, but had a question. If I leave the intake side of the cool tube open inside of the cab (rather than sucking the air from outside of the box), will it work ok like that?

I think I saw people doing it like that, and was wondering if it was ok, so that way I kill 2 birds with one stone. Then I could stick a carbon filter on the other side. The only thing I was thinking could be a problem is the air inside the cab would be warm to begin with.

theoretically, you would be "sucking" the air away from the bulb before it had a chance to really heat up. that being said, your biggest issue would be exhausting through a carbon filter, instead of the filter being at the beginning of the setup. better make sure you have a fan powerful enough to handle pushing that air through your filter.

I thought a lot of people had carbon filters having the air pushed through?

I think people mainly pull air through there filter.... kinda defeats the purpose if ya dont pull through...

pulling through the filter is the way you want it. Be careful, by not using cool outside air to cool the light, you risk higher temperatures. I was in your shoes and I created a separate duct system for my light which netted me temperatures of 73-76.

ive done that way and had no probes.the only thing is the room must be air tight.i leave my fan on 24/7 so no probes there as long as you have the right fan thats no probes. ether way it is the same perisher.keep in mind you have to check that the carbon filter is kept from forming damp or dust that clogs the carbon filters cover.this can be put in the washing machine to clean.and still run the carbon filter with no probes.the best bet is to get temperature controlled.and keep the fan at a slow pace this is better for the plants.running a fan at full speed is not good for the plants they transplants more water when the fan is at full speed u r looking for a slow speed keep in mind that the temperature is kept at 75 day and night u will get great results this is mimicing mother nature.hope everything goes good for u always buy a fan that is more than enough for your room so calculate the right size for your room and u r in there ...............

always have your filter inside the grow room as high as possible. This will suck out warm air this is clean and ready to be vented anywhere else in your house as heating or outside...
