cooltube question

Does the cool tube have and opening on far side to pull not only hot air from light but also remove old air from grow room? Looking at pic of cooltube it does not look like it has a way to pull alot of air from room too, which is what I need.

cool tubes are the shit

yes .............one side of the tube or hood is hooked to the exhust ducting the other end is open and u can strait drawl tho that or u can add ducting and a carbon filter for smell

when u are looking a a cool tube or hood .........always look for a enclosed system (the bulb is behide glass) this will get better results since the air is funnelled

My challenge is being in an unheated/cooled attic area. It will be cool in late mid fall through winter. I will also be pulling in outside air to some degree. I feel like a need a balance of heat and cooling. Heating would ONLY come from the light mostly. A 600 watt light in 80sq ft will bring the heat. I am thinking my exhaust with an exposed light will balance the cold air from intake and winter. I guess I am concerned a "cooltube" will eliminate almost any possible heat which could easily put my plants in 50 degrees or lower in winter. Oh to find the balance. I guess I can always add a cool tube but since fall is coming I am considering exposed lighting but moving air. I have a evaporative cooler on ground outside that has a big vent unit to push cooling up to second floor. There is power inside unit. I may plug a small fan to push fresh air up there and block off all other vents. This would give me cool air intake along with and exhaust fan. I guess i will just have to check temps for a while prior to grow.

You should get one of these... $35-

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000E7NYY8/ref=wms_ohs_product?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It has settings for heating and cooling...
You just hook up your Inline Fan to the heat controller and set the temp to the desired degree (~76F).. Now whenever the temp gets above 76F the fan will turn on.

*if you have the money the one Kief Cheif suggested would be better...

3 months ago I bought four new 8" raptor hoods for flower. a week after I bought them I saw a 4000 watt cool tube flower room, I ordered 4 8 inch cool tubes this last weekend couldn't believe the difference in heat drop with the cool tubes.

Awesome, thanks. One more question for now lol. What trama would it put on plants if I set the high threshold for say 88 degrees and when it hit it, it shuts off light? Would this shock plants or stunt growth? Maybe only on a few warm fall days could this happen. Lets say two days in three months of growing the light shut off for an hour. Is that a issue?

Cool tubes RULE!!! Normally with an HID you would need your plant a foot a more away from the bulb, With a cool tube, you can have them fuckers mere inches away and literally "BLOWING UP" with explosive growth. Hands down the best route to go in my opinion.

If Your temps are above 80 degrees the heat alone will stunt/damage your plants.

If it did only happen twice for an hour the you won't notice any negative affects...

How do outdoor grows handle 90 degree plus days for weeks sometimes?

some tubes yes (hoods yes they are set to open u would have to remove a pin from hinges to completely take off ) the tubes designs no they are not removeable it is a solid other then the 2 openings at each of the ends

they do sell hood system that are one vent hole(for ducting to suck out from) and no glass

Does the enclosed cooltube put any noticeable heat at all to the room? I have to have some heat from somewhere and one source is best.

the amount of heat from them is small cool tube means that u can touch it

the solar "light" engery can cause things to warm up

Yes heat will come out. In the winter I heat my basement with my grow lights. It even heats the upstairs a little.

They just mean that in perfect conditions you'll be at 70-80 degrees F. colder, and hotter its no longer "IDEAL" and the plant can experience issues. My plants are in 90-100 degree temps, and do just fine. The hotter they are the more often you will need to water, keep that in mind.

Also some more temperamental strains will have LOTS of issues in less than ideal grow rooms, but most strains manage. ;-)

Anything above ~85 degrees and your yield and quality start to go down (for most strains)... (indoors)
Outdoor plants root zones will stay at a constant temperature even if it gets above 90 degrees, but indoors the root zone will be heated up as well causing damage...

If you supplement CO2 in the growroom you will benefit from high temps 85-90+, otherwise your only hurting your plants...
The air is always fresh outdoors, and it is only that hot for a few hours a day and the change in temp is usually much more gradual than indoors where the temps jump when the lights turn on...

Plants that are bred for outdoors are bred to withstand the rigours of living outside at the whim of mother nature...
Plants that are bred for indoors are bred for optimal indoor conditions and will perform at their best in these conditions.

Yah the way you have it is fine...

But its a closed loop so you may need to add a passive intake. (intake without fan, for fresh air)
