cotyledons = node?

i have never seen this before, so i don't know if this is a common thing or if my plant is fancy, but my 3 week old from seed plant has sprouted what look like serrated leaves at one of the cotyledons. now it's not uncommon for me to have green cotyledons until halfway through flower, but i have never seen what looks like a potential bud site come from them. for the record it's a mr. nice master kush x afghan haze cross. i already grew out one lady and she was awesome so i'm running the strain again from seed, and it just appeared today, so it's barely visable. i wanted to put some pics up in case the thing dies off or something. apologies for the quality. it's a 10 year old cybershot and it won't focus on zoom so this is the best i can do with the macro setting.

i really thought this would generate more interest. i think it's cool as hell. the plant in question is being grown in innoculated soil, which i am new to experimenting with. it is the 6th plant of the strain i have grown from seed, and the seed description did hint that it was fairly unstable. i have grown well over 20 strains and have never seen this. i've had twins, various forms of mutants, all sorts of weird budding quirks but never budsites at cotyledons. i'm assuming it will probably just die off unless a decent shoot pops out, but any pics or stories would be of great interest.

ok bump. i'm just trying to get a feel for how often this happens and what to expect. it's been 6 days and the coty leaves are dying but the "budsite" continues to thrive. i actually got a decent picture this time.
