I’m almost in week 4 on a few autos. I’ve been having this clawing issue in my new growth that started to appear after this past weekend when I got a new light. I replaced a 265w (actual) COB led with a 200w QB.
Fora couple days, I left the light at 28in and then Monday evening I lowered it down to 24in. All of the plants have been exhibiting this twisting and clawing at the tops of new growth. No yellowing on the leaves, no spots, nothing I can see. Just this clawing and tip twisting. The plants are LST‘d so all the new tops are at equal height and did the same. I don’t have any shaded growth to compare. Yesterday I realized this and brought the light back up to 28in. and the leaves haven’t really responded to that 24hrs later.
I was beginning to think the QB was too intense but my tops were only getting a PPFD between 400 - 480 hanging at 28in. My canopy temp is at 78f and occasionally 80f if I leave my home ac off. RH is typically 55% - 60%.
My old COB light had a max PPFD between 240-360 in a small central area hanging at 18in. Now the plants are getting a bit more light compared to the old light.
I’m wondering is it right to think that since the photosynthesis has increased, they are sucking up nutrients quicker? Im almost in week 4 with FFOF and have not fed anything but a half dose of CalMag here and there. I’m thinking that maybe the increased nutrient uptake is causing the plant to have nitrogen toxicity from the hot FFOF and the addition nitro from the CalMag. Water ph has been 6.4-6.6 and my soil readings average 6.3-6.5. I’m just really confused about this and can’t find anything definitive about it on the Googles.
