Hey everyone, its happening now, I started putting the pieces together. I couldnt find the proper tap kit at home depot so I had to be a bit creative, I think I came up with a new way of getting the cob holders onto the heatsinks, and this is NOT the right way to do it but it works, in case some other DIYers are interested.
I am building 2 x 200watts bars a la greengenes,
8 COB pcs CXB3590 3500K CD 36V CXB3590-0000-000N0HCD35G
8 ideal holder pcs 50-2303CR
2 driver HLG-185H-C1400A
2 Heatsinks from heatsinksusa, 5.88''x 36''
So first of all, I was off to a bad start, I tried drilling a hole and use a self tapping screw, but the aluminum is too thick at the base and I kept breaking the metal screws in the hole...

I had to put the project aside overnight lol... this morning I started again with a new approach, I drilled my holes with a 3/32 bit, wiggled it just a tad bit in the hole and went straight with #4, 1/2'' metal screw, I usually go through 2 or 3 screws (the philips square head gets damaged)) and by the time I get to the fourth one it goes in with a nice thread. After, I remove the screw, wash the heatsink and install the cob. Thanks aluminum for being so soft. Everything went smoothly from then on.

I used arctic 5, not too sure how much to put on but I think I put just enough, you can see the close up picture how the thermal paste is being pushed out evenly.

Just to be sure, is it as simple as green wire with green screw, brown wire with golden screw and blue wire with silver screw? I cant really tell the positive from the negative looking from the other side ... I guess I should know this lol.

So thats it guys, almost done with the first built, I am building it backward to what greengenes did in the video I was in a hurry to install the cobs...

Im thinking of using 2 fans per bar, as you can see in one of my chinese cheap fixture I have 2 adapter that seems to be running 2 fans each. I plan to reuse those.
Thats it for now, please comment, I will resume the built tonight and hopefully have the first bar up and running! To be continued! Special to greengenes, growmau5 and the rest of the team.
