Hey so I've never had a problem with bugs oter then a nat once or twice, but today I was checking on y seedlings just watchin the grass grow when I saw a red spider run across the rim of the cup. Squished it, checked under the leafs of them all and I don't see any webs or any more spiders, can they hide a nest in the soil?

Clean your grow room out better make sure there is no food, dust, food, or crumbs. Clean the ceiling corners and edges. bleach down the room basically. they won't be back for awhile. Don't overwater your plants.. by keeping the fungus gnats away you will also keep spiders away. Humidity. Too dry and you get mites.. Too wet and you get mold. Overwatering brings fungus gnats. Dirty cluttered rooms bring spiders.

YA AGAIN VERY SIMPLE, my question is CAN THEY LAY EGGS UNDER THE SOIL? that is all I am asking. I already understand what causes bugs and how to get rid of them those are not what I'm asking. The gnats were from over watering in the dead of winter up in the mountians and I was leaving for a few days so I made sure they were soaked, there was only 2 bugs and gone with in a days or so after letting the pot dry out well. I keep my tent very clean I have a humidity and temp gage that I keep an eye on, there was a single(large) red spider, all I am asking is could it have layed eggs in the soil?

Spider mites make webs and make little cocoons for their eggs. The soil gnats are the biggest problem I have had that get into soil. They will damage roots.

Unless your absolutely infested what are the chances you'd see one just mucking aboot? Why leave da leave? Plant?
I've had ta use a scope to even see dem.
Was it just a regular spider? Just red?
Did to bite you? Are you da Spider-Man?

Well seeing as how I've been checking through them all day and have only seen one id say 100%. I have a 60x scope I've been running under and above the leafs and haven't seen any more. Their sprouts so I try not to over water them so it was getting a little dry as well as the heat mat probably provoked it to come by. I've seen the tiny tiny mites(hard to see) and I've seen one or two of these red ones before not this big I think it was the first one to come along an prego.

when you say a red spider, do u mean u could tell it was a spider, like see all 8 legs? If so it is probably not a mite and is just a normal household spider and is not an issue, it is probably beneficial as it is likely a predator. If it was a VERY small red spider u may have a big problem and need pesticides as there are a kind of mite that is red and looks like a spider, but they r very small.

From memory this is what I believe I saw. Hard to tell do to the fact it's zoomed in so size comparison but body shape I believe is identical.

Looked at pictures earlier on Google but after just looking a more I think it might of been a good one, it wasn't very very small. From memory I'd say it was the size of.... If you look in a bic lighter, the fuel spout was about just the size. Not the silver casing

could very well have been a mite, monitor them closely. I recommend taking a leaf or two from every plant and examining their underside under a scope (I remove them from the plant) generally take ones that look less healthy or have spots. Spout of my lighter is much larger than a normal mite (normal mite may be as big as the little hole the fluid comes out of) which u can barely see with a naked eye, but the red ones are larger than other spider mites. If u have them u will notice them on at least some of the leaves u take, where there is one mite there r many and many eggs. If your plants are in veg, id recommend taking a bunch of leaves and checking thoroughly before flowering, a small mite problem gets VERY big very fast when they have a fruiting baby to munch on. If you dont have webbing, and your plants r in veg u are just fine, they probably haven't had any effect on your garden yet, get some floramite and put the problem down fast. If u live next to your plants i don't recommend this product,(in your closet no, in your garage yes) but the shit works (very toxic) but totally safe for your end product as long as u aren't flowering yet.

Lol... I love this. People automically think "oh no bugs, bugs must die".

Look for damage before you go freaking out. A lot of bugs are good. Lady bugs being a prime example, but the good ones don't always look so pretty either and they can also be pretty tiny. Case in point: predator mites. They eat a bunch of different kinds of pests.

Well when their in my room ya I'm not stoked but there was no freak out I just wanted to figure out if there was a problem before it turned into a big problem. Buddy always used neem and it seemed to work really well my problem is I have no money now or for a few weeks to go buy any. Good to know there are good ones though. I think I see eggs almost look like little clear tricomb balls on the leafs top mainly but they have had them since birth as well as other plants before and never had any problems. Even just finished up a harvest and no bugs. I took a couple of the less healthy looking leaves and checked them under a 60x scope as well as ran through various parts on them an no bugs. Any in site to those clear balls?

Ya exactly, 9/10 bugs u find near your plants are not pests and are just attracted by warm humid places, some can actually be very helpful.
Id venture to say spiders in general are never cannabis pests. Mites with 8 legs are a different story, but generally if u can see it running around and identify that it is a spider, it is a predator and not eating your plants and likely beneficial as it will eat pests.

Also, i noticed in one of your posts u mentioned u are looking above the leaves, mites will be on the BOTTOM of your leaves in the shade.

That's the problem though, there are many different types of bugs you'd have to get a book to decifer which is good and which are bad. Not to mention I don't want them making a home in my bedroom good or bad, garage would be a different story. Ya I know mites like being out of direct sunlight( under the leaf) but there are around 1200 different types I'll bet one probably doesn't mind direct light all to much. Just thought I'd be safe then sorry ya know. Thanks guys for all your help especially with the little info I was able to give you guys.
