Dangers of vaporizing?

Hey RIU I have been vaping for quite some time, and I was just wondering when using whip vaporizers, I see that a nice residue forms within the wands, and I started wondering when inhaling that particle bad for your lungs, like dangerous? I vape everyday and wonder if that is a potential danger, would a bong be the perfect answer, the particles would get stuck in the water correct?

sorry-super high here.....anyways I meant would rigging up a vape bong setup be the best alternative since the water would even further filter the vape particles

We're all high in here lol.

I see what you mean now.
That may work but will cut down on the effect.
I'm no chemist.

Check out the Sublimator. You can use it with any bong pretty much although most people recommend no water and I use no water. It works awesome. You get cleaner rips from it than a Volcano and you can get much much much bigger ones too. And it's awesome for wax - like fuckin incredible.

I think that some vaporizers are quite susceptible to plant matter/particulate getting through and into your mouth/lungs. I too have noticed nasty looking whips and such. You still get some from a sublimator, but it seems it's all resin - no plant matter. I've been concerned a bit about the same thing.

I'm sure the Sublimator will explode in popularity amongst serious smokers (it's god damn expensive and needs exposure) because they really do kick some ass. Definitely a dangerous instrument though, could easily see someone burning their house down, starting a fire or horribly burning themselves with it if they're not careful.

oh no you didn't! You did not just waste my next pay check did you?lmao jk but seriously that sublimator looks to awesome, im still kinda confused tho from the youtube videos, it has a atomizer?

Not sure what an atomizer is/does, but it's element has a beautiful little area where you can ju st stuff wax to your hearts content or you can use the bowl and fill er up with weed. It really works exceptionally well. I do have to warn people it is a dangerous instrument though and to be careful with it.

Hmmmm, I wonder if there is a legit DIY version of this? Tho I can possibly stomach the $700 price tag, i spent considerable chunk of money on my volcano and my Silver Surfer Vaporizer

I loved my Volcano, but this is superior. Cleaner hits for sure once you get the hang of it. You can overheat and burn your weed with it. Great for dabs (something Volcanos are awful for).

But yeah, I feel you. My volcano sort of bit the dust, the fan was dying on it anyway but the switch burnt out and a bunch of the wires on the inside got fried too - no big deal to fix really, I just figured it was a good excuse to get a new one. I had that Volcano almost 10 years and I dropped it many times over from high distances and it still kept on trucking. It served me well and probably could be refitted to serve someone else well for an extended period. I do want to say that the quality of materials on the Volcano have gone down quite a bit, you can tell they use significantly cheaper plastic than they used to use for extra parts and such.

The other thing is the Volcano required continual cash outlay to maintain operation. This, not near as much. Just have to keep it clean. Whereas the volcano you had to keep clean and replace screens eventually and bags pretty frequently (depending on your use).

So now the real question after researching is, is it really sublimation? Or just a super effecient vaporizer? From the videos I see super milky hits, unlike any vape I have seen. So is the process different or what makes it better (looks like way more vapor)?

it just looks like a hotter heating element to me / with a simple design thats convenient to dab

What temps do the sublimation units run at ?

@OGevilgenius, I had never heard of this sublimator contraption until tonight, but I can tell you that the thing I like about the volcano is that you can keep the temps low and not reach the point where you're releasing the carcinogens that are released at around 390 degrees.
I just watched a video on the sublimator and it looked like there is no temperature control. It looked like the guy was getting thick hits, just like one would get if they cranked up their volcano too high. The guy was actually coughing in the video, something that doesn't happen when you use the volcano at a low temp. Basically the whole reason I vape, and use a volcano, is to keep the temps low, not cough, not get the nasty chemicals that are released at high temps, and to get smooth vapor. It seems like the sublimator is just giving you big hits b/c you're using high heat and that's not what I want. Am I missing something? Do you know what temp the sublimator heats up to? Are the hits harsh?

every video I have seen the herb seems to be cooked, not scorched or burned....I do know it can be dialed down!

Ya, but are the hits harsh? They sure look like they are. It looks like they're taking an old fashioned bong hit with no water in the bong.
see that is where I wonder how the atomizer affects the smoke, since its broken further down it may be super smooth!

No atomizer is more of the fancy sounding mumbo jumbo

"When injected under pressure through a tube with a decreasing section, it speeds up, generating a pressure drop at the narrowest point (due to Bernoulli's principle). The reduced pressure, due to the pressure difference between the two points, sucks up a liquid from a reservoir through a narrow tube into the moving gas flow, and projects it forward as a fine spray of droplets (although not atoms as the name suggests). An atomizer nozzle is an aspirator nozzle for producing a fine spray of a liquid based on the Venturi effect. As in old school perfume bottles"

"The heating element serves to vaporize the liquid in the mouthpiece so that it can be inhaled. This component is referred to in the industry as an"atomizer". Atomizers require the use of cartridges or drip tips.."
They are completely different things... not even close to being based on the same principles..its called an atomizer simply because it vaporized the liquid..it will not effect the hit and make it super smooth
Yes I do believe it would be quite harsh..
