Deficiency? Nute-burn? salt buildup? can't figure it out

Hi everyone,

my babies have been flowering for just over 30 days now. So just over halfway done...

I couple of weeks ago some of you might remember I started another thread about chlorosis and necrosis on some leaves. I followed the advice here (flush them and feed immediately). That seemed to work for those particular symptoms, but now something weird is happening to all my plants (last time was just the NLX).

Some of the larger fan leaves (all over; not just the bottom) have turned completely yellow and then brown, dry and crispy. Some of them fell off naturally. One of the (largest) plants now has a completely pale green hue with some yellowing.

I'm just not sure what the problem is :-( I haven't changed their nutes except for adding 20% more PK13/14. Now I see signs of nute burn (i think)...

Looks normal to me with the looks of the age of the plant. Normally all plants fan leaves will turn yellow and fall off this late in flowering

sicne most the stems are green to start with and its not ur strain and it looks like its effecting near every tip now , and there purple stems present, some alot worse so it makes me think not enough like a deficiancy , maybe up the nutes , but the same time where its all over now, and turnign purple fast id say u brang up ur nutes to fast after being deficiant... but thats just me ... how about a ppm history man ... hows the last few res changes, yeah i re read and you added 20 percent mroe , just flush and keep it at a safe ppm u know worked within the last one u can remember , slowly build it up , looks like ur close to harvest man , but keep at it , put it to a safe ppm , wait , trim old leaves a few each day is what i like , and slowly add ur nutes to bring up the ppm a point or 2 each week... and flush the last 2 weeks , light off the last 2 days u got this buddy!!!!

that's what I'd like to believe, but it's still too early for that kind of yellowing.

I've still got at least 20-25 days 'til harvest. Hope they make it...

bro, ur plants look very good for their age. if u notice, it is only the oldest largest fans that look that way, meaning they are doing their job-provide nutes to be mobilized where needed most-the bud sites. when the leaves yellow like that and roll up and clench like a fist, it is a P deficiency. some deficiency is tolerable as in ur case. it is not nute burn. I see no signs of nute burn except for the first pic on a sep plant to the left.
I stongly believe, and have come to the conclusion as well after witnessing several grows, these fans life expectancy is about over-mainly to wither and die up to free some light penetration to the lower buds-a natural occurance.
at this stage, drop ur N nutes and continue on your Canna PK and ur micro's. they look like they will ot only finish up fine but provide some nice weight

Yeah the all-yellow ones somehow looked natural, but as you mentioned in the first pic that leaf on the right (one of the ones I posted on a previous thread) seems nute burned; as does the one on the 3rd pic on the higher cola leafs. should I flush them then add less of the flowering nutes and concentrate and the bloom accelerator and PK13/14? or should I just wait until their final flush in about 10 days?

Also, two of the NLX (biggest ones in my grow room, not pictured) are turning pale green all over- including the bud leafs. should that be a concern? I'm thinking they're producing the largest buds and using up their stored nutes faster.

And sorry for this stupid question, but when we talk about nute burn which element(s) toxicity causes the burning of the tips? N, P, K or a combination? because i'm worried adding extra PK13/14 might make the ones with nute burn worse...

Oh yeah and i think (or at least hope) they'll provide a nice weight as I've had to tie a few of them up 'cause the colas are getting a tad heavy :lol:

nah bro, that's not nute burn-seems like either K or mg or combo deficiency. nute burn will pretty much affect most of the leaves uniformly and usually the lower ones. leave em be and flush before harvest. keep givin em the PK. buds look very very nicely covered in trichs-some good strain-have u checked the trichs yet? do you know what you are looking for? id say got about 2 weeks. this last 2 weeks, they should fatten out at the bottoms of the buds even more

sounds logical but depends how far along they are. if they are the same age and you predict same harvest time, than they will be fine. if they got longer to go, than a dose of veg nutes will work

I believe the majority of nute burn is caused by excessive Nitrogen levels. with higher level of P and K, you will usually see over fert signs rather than burning-like irregular growth and twisty leaf tips.

I guess i'll just gradually reduce the flowering nutes and keep on going with the Boost and PK for another week or so.

checked the trichs with a 30x LED microscope and so far like 70% clear, 25% white and a few ambers (on the bubblegum anyways). the NLX are slightly behind.

With the Bubblegum I want more cloudy trichs for a daytime bud, and the NLX i'll probably let 'em go 'til they're at least 60% amber for a really narcotic high.

Wish I could send you some for all your help :leaf:

60 amber on the NLX will lock ur ass straight to the couch. good choices

Yeah that sounds like a perfect ratio for the Bubblegum.

I'm gonna try to resist the urge to pluck a bud or two off early...

2 schools for that. those that say no bud should be picked before it's time and the other who take nugs starting 5th week of flower. somewhere in the middle is what I like. I try to find the smallest flower top and it is usually the ripest. snip. leave the rest of the buds and stem to finish. in fact this is a great way to harvest and allow the bottom half of the plant mature.

i dont see a problem at all.the yellowing is natural and the amber color on the leaves @ the bud sites are telling me your almost done,chill bro wont be long now.

I dont think he is unchill, bro. maybe he wants to learn more about deficiencies for his next grow. never heard of amber color leaves at the budsites, nor does he have them. his larger fans are yellowing and browning.

no you are all good, my plants lose more leaves than yours and the bud is killer. The yellow leaves are not a problem.

The plant does not need leaves to pass on its DNA, it needs to produce seeds in the buds. So the plant grows leaves to produce energy for seed production. When budding comes the plant will suck the life energy from the big leaves and use it for seed production. Since you have no males the plant will die in a futile effort to make itself more attractive(sticky) to male pollen, and loose the non seed producing parts first.

it makes sense, no?
