Designing an Attic Grow room, I have some basic questions

Please see picture of my attic. Can I remove this long diagonal beam? It doesn't look like it supports anything.
Also, can I remove some of these horizontal beams? I want more vertical space.
If I don't remove these horizontal beams, I woulb be limited to a little more than 4 feet.

My plan was to use tents, but if I can manage to create an insulated attic grow room, that would be best.

Thanks.

Thank you for your responses. I will do more research on how to get this done.

parkth3car, that is an awesome grow room you have. I aspire to have one just like it.

why not leave the horizontal ones and use them for hanging your lights buddy? the long diagonal one can be replaced with a shorter one or a vertical one in my experience any diagonal one like that cant be load beaing but was used in the construction stage to hold up the two ends while the roof was constructed

Thank you Indagrow. My plan right now is:

1. shorten the horizontal supports and raise them a foot.

2. Remove the diagonal support. maybe replace with a shorter one or a vertical one. or maybe another diagonal on the other side of the attic.

3. Install vertical supports what will serve as the wall of the grow room like the picture below.

grow room8.jpggrow room 6.jpgnr8.jpgIf you sheet the rafters you can do away with the tents. You can frame in a simple partitioning wall using existing trusses. just cut 2x2 furring strips for your uprights in the wall. Cheap panneling can be bought for $11.00 a sheet. At ACE. Paint it white and the slanted ceiling will refract light down like an oversize yeild master hood.
This is what it looks like as a finished project. (2x2 framed and sheeted) wall.

This was done in a garage just finished yesterday! I have alot of construction and finished grow room pics in an album "from mylar to solid walls." A thread as well, on how this was done using no screws nails or hardware in a rented property. "hope this helps you out some." It's my experience that as a grower gets more involved in indoor growing, the faster they grow out of tents and cabs. It's also my opinion, that, if you have a room big enough to house a tent, or cab then, you could make that space a grow room. So good luck. I think the space you have there is awsome! And could be partitioned off to create a bloom, as well as veg, clone/mother room.
