Dipped cutting in honey, week later opaque blob forms

I usually root in water, occasionally with hormone but this time I used honey (the cut tip of the clone was covered in a thick layer).

Two weeks later I remembered to change the water and the clone seems fine but the bottom has this strong goo sphere around it. I tried washing it off but it held together under the faucet.

Mostly I am just curious what happened as I assume this is due to the amount of honey I used. And wondering if I should pop the bubble and wash it off the clone. Appreciate any insights or thoughts.

Pop it. Probably hard to take up water although it looks green.
