distance from plant and light

Hey guys, im designing a grow box especially built for stealth, and im wondering about the light distance of different fixtures. i know i can get really close to my plants with the cfl's, but how close can i get with the Metal Halide and the hps lights. cus im short on room and i very much would like to avoid burning them. thanks mates

I would keep the mh maybe 8 or 9 inchs away from the top. I using a 250 mh and keep it about 5 inches away.Good luck

What stage of are you in. If you are still veggin your plant Hps does not really provide the proper color spectrum for vegetative growth(Blue(mh) is good you veggin, red is good for flowerin(HpS)). For flowering you should use a hps bulb. However I do not know if 50 watts will do the job for you. Also when using hps lights in inclosed areas you will need proper ventilation (you may also need some ventliation when using the mh light) . So the heat does not kill your plant.

im just in the design phase, but i found a a 50 watt floodlight at homedepot for like 30 bucks, so i guess i'll just put two in there. the box is about 1x2x3 and i will have a squirrel cage fan for intake and 2 exhaust 5 inch fans at the top, with a carbon fliter and all that jazz

LoveTheGreen is that 30w per square foot of floor space, or total room volume? Just so I can keep that in mind.
