DIY dry box?

With harvest time just around the corner I would like to run my drying plans past the people of rollitup to see if anyone has any advice. My idea is similar to one of those bud drier box's but i am not wanting my crop to dry quickly as is intended with those commercial drier box's. I would use a big plastic storage box, stick a filter over an opening on top of the box, make a small hole in bottom for inflow air and have a small fan inside to circulate air. However I would not use an inline fan with the filter as this seems to be responsible for speeding up drying in drier box's. As i have no experience with filters being an outdoor grower would this work or is the inline an essential partner to the filter? thanks in advance.

Is the filter used to absorb smell? Otherwise I don't see the point of it there?

I built a "dryer box" out of 2x2's, visqueen , a small vortex fan and intake filter. I live in a rural very dusty area with 3 cats and 2 dogs.....my life is dust and hair. Built it to minimize that crap sticking to the buds as they dry

Yes I need the filter for the smell cause of my living arrangements I cant risk people getting a whiff.

Gotcha....then yes do it. Sorry I can't advise on that type filter, dust and hair is my problem, smell is fine for me :0

Cheers man. So you reckon it be ok to use filter with no fan attached and a small fan inside box?

In principle, yes. Consider: without positive(fan assist) air evacuation, your air will go slower through the filter, hence give it more reaction time in the filter to scrub smells. In other words, the air is just pushed through filter instead of push and sucked. If you make notes and experiment with fan size and cfu's and filters this would make a great data source. I like it

4 things to help smell, I've read these in a few threads.
carbon filter
Ona Gel
Ozone Generator
Plug ins
I keep the ozone generator right in front of my main a/c return, it has a 30 minute timer so you can't create dangerous Levels.
It kills every odor but your place will smell like a Doctors office.
We burn a few scented candles to mix with the ozone, it works well.
Plug ins are supposed to help but I think they are costly and don't use them.
