Do I need to seal my basement ceiling?

I have an open basement that is finished but I'm tearing up carpet for a 10x10 space and looking to put walls up and a door for a room. Do I need to seal the ceiling to the walls? A guy quoted me he would have to frame around the AC ducting and such.
I am wondering if walls up to the ceiling will be just fine? It's gonna get pricey and I'll have to use co2 correct?

You don't have to finish the ceiling for the purpose of the grow, unless you want to seal it off. If what is up there is the subfloor for the next level up, then finishing the ceiling might help you with controlling odor escaping up through the subfloor onto the next level. If those are not issues, then finishing doesn't really matter.

Whether or not the ceiling is finished, you'll either need to fan in air from outside the grow room or add co2 and other environmental controls. If the room does not have any air exchanged from outside the room, then yes co2 needs to be supplemented, and you'll need other environmental controls like dehumidifier, a/c, heat depending on the situation. Even if the ceiling is not finished, you should work out some air exchange.

The odor is not a huge deal to me at all.. I'll fan everything and use my dehumidifier in the room... I just didn't know if I should seal it or just wall it up and have minimal light leaks. I'll be buying a 8-10" inline fan for the new room.
