Do you need to pH the water if you are top watering soil?

I have always done hydro in the past but am using soil this time and was wondering if you need to pH the water before watering in a separate reservoir or is it good to go with just a filter on the tap? Thanks!

Add extra lime to the soil...and let the water sit out for 24 hours...to gas the chlorine...and you don't need to ph...
