For me I like both fems and reg but depends on situation. if im trying to just get all fems without having to worry bout a male then ill use fems,; but if im trying to make my own seeds I would use regs. Now if I can't find a certain strain in reg and only have the choice of getting it in fem then it is what it is I gotta have it. For me it's mostly situational. I will say this tho I have had more regs herm than fems in my experience.

I used to get fems when I was earlier into it. Now I'm running all regs.... Do your self a favor and get some bodhi seeds (thread count says it all), wish I would have gotten that advice long ago. Much better options for places to buy if you want full packs but if you're limited on space I know midweek song sells singles (not ideal price wise but not terrible)

This is a good option if you have limited room, buy two of each strain you want to try and odds are you'll get females.

Most people that do fems are in it for the cash, not the love of it... I'm sure this isn't always true... But my overall quality has gone up since switching breeders no question(bodhi, doc d, stray) and growing regs. Lots of other good ones out there but these guys are genuine people that have the fire!

Not to say that some fem seeds aren't absolute fire, but more often than not I got let down with them

Do you find reg seeds more stable?
Not at all, if anyone has grown tga's seeds for example, knows that regs can be unstable and hermie prone. Every grow I have at least one fs c99 plant. Never once have I had one herm, hell, they're highly resistant to herming even when treated with sts.

The plants are phenotypically stable with little variation. Fem seeds are no more prone to hermaphroditism than are reg seeds.

Contrary to what slimjim states, where it is legal, most people grow fems not for the money, but do it to not go to jail. My ceres seeds regs were the most unstable hermi prone plants I've ever grown, they'd grow balls if you looked at them funny.

From what I've read early feminized seeds had problems with hermaphrodites due to breeding with predominantely female hermies. Now they are pretty much stable because breeders are using stable fems and using techniques such as colloidal silver to get male flowers. Is this accurate?

I remember back in the late 90's getting some feminized seeds back when I was a noob and a few of them hermied out pretty bad. Could have been genetics or my noob self stressing them.

I'm doing bagseed right now. 3wks in. So, no fukn clue what the sex is just yet. But, I think I'll be trying femmed for a while after this. That way I don't waste weeks on a possibly male plant.

Exactly, it sucks when you waste the time, the space, the nutes, the electricity, etc. Only to get males, especially if you don't plan on doing any chucking.

A small veg tent is priceless, and is had for a very small investment: say 18" x 3 ft x 5 ft high on Amazon for about $70. Hang 2 or 3 CFLs at about $18 - $25, depending on wattage.

You can run up to 8 seed plants [if growing from seed] in small containers long enough to get clones [if wanted], then flip and determine sex. With luck, you should get at least four girlies to transplant into larger containers, and move into your larger bloom tent. This also means that your bloom tent receives plants working on week three instead of week 1, so your flowering tent should open up again as early as 6 weeks. Of course, during that 6 weeks, you have either your clones, or more seedlings enjoying their veggy life under CFLs, waiting for their turn in the bloom room.

You probably already knew all that. bongsmilie

Anyone that says your quality of weed will go up depending on whether you pop a fem or a reg seed is in need of more experience with actually growing weed.To think that reg somehow put off more resin or taste better is bull cocky, same for fems. It all depends on the genetics of the seed.
I simply don't take any breeders very seriously if they claim that fems are somehow evil and wrong and regs are better. Because they aren't worth taking seriously because they generally don't know what they're talking about.
