does 10/14 really make them flower quicker?

10-14 wont make them flower any sooner - it will just give them about two hours less light, per day, to grow buds. The idea of reducing the photoperiod to 12-12 for flowering isn't "Mathemtic", in the sense that even less isn't a good thing. The 12-12 photoperiod is just a "Tipping Point" that causes the plant to "shift gears" into flowering.

The plant "stays" in flowering mode by keeping track of how many hours of uninterupted darkness it recieves (the threshold required is about 12 hrs.). Giving it 14 hrs. of darkness wont make it flower quicker, it will just take away 2 hrs. of growth producing light time every day - resulting in slower growth!
